coolest roller coaster lights at night

maXair also gives some good visuals after dark. Looking at an upside-down lit up Raptor is really cool and worth riding maXair.

I would have to used to agree that Magnum is the best ride to go on in the dark, it still is too, but Maverick is my new favorite at night.

Sit in the front row on the left hand side of the train, the tunnel is awesome, and then the flash from the camera blinds you, its unbelieveable.

I agree with the Chief, by far Mean Streak is the prettiest at night.

The strobe light that you are referring to on magnums lift hill is no longer there. It is now just you basic chaser lights. I'm not %100 sure on this, but if i remember correctly, didn't they have to get rid of the strobe because of air traffic? Thats what i was told anyways, who knows for sure?

I remember hearing the same thing but dismissed it as a rumor. It was around '90 or '91. I guess that was back when no one else had a coaster that tall and it created problems for airplanes?

I thought I'd bring this topic back to ask a question. Did Maverick add any lights last year to the lift hill and the surrounding areas? All I remember is the one light going up the lift hill, but did they have lights below the track like Millennium Force?

Maverick has lift lights, some lights in the canyons, and the lights in the tunnel.

Which give very good effects throughout the ride.

MF has awesome lighting efffects, but I'll throw my hat in with the Magnum folks for night-ride quality. I might be biased because the first time I rode it was a night ride inagural year when I was a kid, but the turn after the second hill when you're moving into the dark and can look out and see the moon reflected in lake Eerie, there's nothing like it anywhere.

I really enjoy the blue streak lights they make it feel like you were on a bord walk

What's Life If You Never Get To The POINT?...see yall in line!

I hate bord walks. I'm not sure why though.

I do enjoy boardwalks though (and punctuation), especially ones that have skeeball (or separate sentences into logical thoughts).
Coolest Lights? I'm going to have to go with Mean Streak, it is very impressive and photogenic at night.

(Sorry about the spacing, its the IE6 that I have to use at work, doesn't like to wrap things properly).

I've always been pleasantly surprised at how fun Mean Streak can get when riding in the front seat in the dark. No wait either, you're basically giving the crew something to do. :)

I have never ridden Magnum at night(will hav to do that this year) so I cant really say anything about that but I do know that M.F. in the front seat at night is incredible. I have also done Maverick in the front at night with my dad(his first ride) and that was sweet too. Maxair is pretty cool too with the strobes flashing below you.

Here Come the Irish!

My understanding is that the cool strobe lights on Magnum actually went away because it was getting really old, repairing or replacing the light modules and/or controller every time the ride got struck by lightning. I remember seeing those lights doing all kinds of very strange things on nights after the park had suffered major storms, so I wasn't exactly surprised when the strobes went away and were replaced with the current boring chase lights.

What I don't understand is why on rides that have modular chase lights (such as Magnum, Disaster Transport, and Raptor) they have consistently managed to always install one or more segments with the wiring phase reversed so that a section or two appears to be chasing backwards from the rest of the lift hill. The exception to this is, of course, Blue Streak, which has a 5-light chase (as opposed to 3- or 4-lights on the other rides) that is discretely wired rather than being built in sections. The result is a smooth chase series that looks better than any other chase lights in the park.

I think a ride on MF in pitch black after the park closes would be fun. Any of the coasters in pitch black would be great.

Firemen never die, they just burn forever in the hearts of the people whose lives they saved

^I dont know why they don't market this as part of Halloweekends. Imagine Raptor, Mantis, Magnum, Maverick, TTD (only with its Christmas Tree lights,) or MF without its lights on that night.

Talk about a gimmick that would bring more people in and actually cost the park less money.

I agree with you guys about Millennium Force looking great at night. In my opinion it's the coolest lights in the park. Now the riding part I agree with you guys on that too, except the fact that on some nights during the summer, there are a lot of bugs. The best thing to do when that happens is not to keep your mouth open. Other than that Millennium Force Rocks at Night!

The coolest ride exprience I had at night was the last ride on Raptor. They unloaded us in the breaks right before the station and they shut all the lights off. It was really fun because I was in the front seat.

Maverick has very little lighting which makes it very cool so thats my favorite.
