CP&LE Railroad Possibilites for Improvements

I'm not sure I would call it a tour of the midway, as it never really gets exposed to any midway in particular. It still has the lovely crossing around Mine Ride, and I thought the incorporation of the train near Shoot the Rapids was executed brilliantly, giving the train an exposure it never had before. Anyone remember the "big screen" and how much it's presence killed the ambiance of the Millennium station? Gone...

I don't know. I see what you're saying to some degree, but I would have to disagree. As a rider of The Western Cruise in the 1980's as a kid, yes, it's true that ride was absolutely gutted in its waning years...but the train?

I can't tell if you're being critical of the train ride itself or Boneville; from my perspective Boneville is (surprisingly!) every bit as good as it was when I was 8 years old. Yes, it's true that some of the more densely wooded area is gone, but the area near Rougarou is the only area that's drastically different. And while that area has become more "urban", areas like the former Shoot-the-Rapids site have improved.

And something tells me that with the coming changes to Frontier Town, the future of the train station near Mean Streak is Majesticus.

That "Frontiertown has a bright future" has been stated repeatedly cannot be accidental.

If the park is dropping pearls about upcoming additions, I wonder if "bright" is the operative word there. Mean Streak is close to Lighthouse Point, and a lighthouse was the first building on the peninsula.

CP&LE RR trains need a bar car with a cigar smoking deck! I might stay there all day!

Not absolutely necessary, but if we are talking about "possible improvements" I would like to see the second train get the same padded seats as the other.

A bar car and dining car added to the train is actually a great idea, it would be fun to ride around while enjoying a drink or sandwich.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Is my memory starting to fade or did they run three trains in the 70s? And I love the Bar car idea.

Yes, they did run three trains in the 70's.

Ok - so here is my suggestion - Extend the tracks around the old Mean Streak structure, reconnect to the existing tracks near the Gemini crossing. Add a third train that is a dedicated "Bar Train". (the added track is to make more spacing for the third train, even though the used to run three on the current layout). Then add the Paddlewheel Excursion experience to the other 2 trains with a live "captain" telling terrible jokes.

Kings Island has some un-Bear-able joke on the train.

I'm not sure how well a bar car on a moving train would work, but maybe a railroad themed drink and food venue at Frontier Town Station could be an idea. Perhaps a spur track could be added with a dining car there to serve as a new bar?

Bar cars work fine on other railroads, don't see why it wouldn't work on the CP&LE RR.

Mean Streak's symbol was lightning. What's brighter than lightning? Whyte Lightning?...

^ That's from awfully long ago but if they took out a copyright for it and still have it the name would definitely fit in with Frontier Town.

Pete's avatar

That would actually be a great name for the RMC'ed Mean Streak.

Would people still want a gold track if the name was whyte lightning?

Gun metal

Gold Lightning

One of the actors in Tombstone Terroritory called it Iron Horse tonight.

You do know that Iron Horse is the official name of the RMC conversions, right?

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

Maybe they will paint the track a white gold color. Keep the Whyte Lightning name and make all CP FLYIN's dreams come true. Personally I find the name Whyte Lightning offensive. Black Lightning lives matter! 😜
