Demon Drop 1983-2009

I'm going to have to make a trip out there next year for sure now. I really enjoyed demon drop while it was at Cedar Point. I'll miss it, but at the same time, I'm excited and anxious to what they'll bring us in the future of that area.
For all of you who said take out Disaster Transport, I doubt it will happen, but if it does, I bet just the ride will come out, but not the building itself. The reason I mentioned this is because someone brought that idea up as far as the next ride on the move.

I have heard rumors of some not so good chemicals/substances being present in the structure, but I think it would be difficult to take out the ride without removing or changing the building in someway.

I made a point of riding Demon Drop in my trip this past June. I was thinking you never know this could be the year they sell or move it.

The best part of the ride for me was the suspense as your car kept going backward slowly, wondering when you would finally reach the elevator shaft and start going up. To me, that was more suspenseful than the actual drop.

I posted a buch of pictures of the ride over on coasterbuzz for you all to enjoy..... http://coasterbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/56777.aspx

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I feel like a piece of my childhood is gone... Demon Drop was fairly new when I first visited the Point back in 1985. Before TTD, Millennium and Magnum... Demon Drop was a truly terrifying ride!

I will never forget my first ride on Demon Drop, in the summer of '86... To this day I am not sure if there was just too much space between the restraints and my seven year old body, or if the restraints weren't locked properly... but on that drop, I lifted off the seat far more than would be expected and I SWEAR the over the shoulder restraint started to lift up. It took me several seasons before I was willing to ride it again!

I am glad that on my most recent trip (my "bachelor party roadtrip" in 2005) I made sure to finish the visit with several rides on Demon Drop, just in case it wouldn't be there the next time I visited.

This may have been brought up somewhere else here, but my official guess for Demon Drop's replacement is a version of Intamin's Zac Spin coaster, somewhere 'round 2011.

I have not been on one, but I hear they are a blast. It would be a good fit for Cedar Point- it has a similar footprint to Demon Drop, has a higher capacity, it would add a thrilling and visually appealing coaster to the front of the park, and would be unique to the U.S. Plus C.P is already so Intamin - friendly, I'm sure a deal could be struck.

Looks like a fun little ride, but the capacity would be hell.

I myself, would like to see a dark ride in demons place.

^Amen. My wildest dreams see CP adding a Spiderman type ride themed to the Peanuts (with the finale fly and drop taking place with the World's Greatest Flying Ace) to replace Disaster Transport.

That area looks so empty now. I'm glad I took pictures a few years back of demon drop. It's on my webshots page if anyone is interested. Also I hope they're not planning on keeping the ride entrance sign and queue rails there. It's going to look very strange come next year if those things are still up.

They wouldn't leave those up. There's no ride there so why keep it? :)

Let's Get Weird.

It was about 5:00pm, and we were going by the ROADHOUSE and the Cars of the Demon Drop were going up on Route 2.

Which way on Route 2? West or East?
