Demon Drop 1983-2009

Went to dorney on Tuesday, my 9 year old was so excited to ride Demon Drop again. It looks great, rode even better. I got an Awesome T-shirt, it Says, Dorney Park, We Recycle and has Demon Drop's name on it. Considering their last 2 rides are used for Ohio, I thought it was pretty cool

So I had to ask, has anyone went to Dorney Park to visit our old friend Demon Drop? I went back in 2011 and rode it like probably like 20 straight times.

I went last year and rode it quite a bit. Still by far the best free fall experience IMO.

A good time to break out our Demon Drop tribute:

Thanks for posting Walt. Interesting to look back at a ride like Demon Drop, which was considered to be on the cutting edge from a ride operation standpoint. The beginning of this video shows off its control system:

Two thoughts that come to mind seeing this:

1. When I first saw Demon Drop, I was so disappointed that it curved at the bottom. All the TV commercials just showed a straight down fall.(Hey, I was 12).

2. I miss that sound at the entrance gate.

Speaking of that classic sound, I just found this recording I made of the ride's sound with an above average microphone and recorder:

My family went to PA in 2014. My 9-year-old daughter and her 11-year-old cousin loved Demon Drop enough that they chose to re-ride that instead of Dominator.

This. Gatekeeper is wonderful and the new main entrance is beautiful. I wouldn't trade those upgrades for anything. But there is just something missing without Demon Drop greeting me when I walk in.

Absolutely! Ocean Motion just doesn't do it for me.

Demon Drop is one of the few rides I remember riding on my first visit in 2006, after that I didn't visit again until 2010 and was disappointed when it wasn't there.

I went to Dorney last year for the first time. I knew Demon Drop was there, but I didn't expect to be exactly the same colors/condition/sounds that I remember. It was quite the blast from the past. I'm glad they didn't try to improve upon it!
