Fast Lane is coming to the park

When does it get to the point the the front of the line passes create a huge line of their own?

Let's Get Weird.

I doubt they would include any sort of FOL option/discount for season pass holders. If they were to have some sort of a discount for the FOL passes, it would most likely be if you were to buy a large number of them.

I could see a moderate, limited discount for pass holders. Something like $5 off, but only on weekdays or not available on certain days or whatever.

Does anyone know if KI's fast lane worked out well?

I experienced the system at Universal Studios (much more reasonably priced) and it was well worth it.

I think that this is a great opportunity for guests who are only there for one day and want to experience all the big rides at the park even if just once.

Great revenue opportunity for non-season pass holders!

My girlfriend worked at kings island this summer, when I skype her tonight I'll let all of you know what she says

Skype - so that's what you kids are calling it today. I think the old timers here used the term "shag" back in the day:)

"Shall we shag now or shag later?" :)

Let's Get Weird.

I went to KI this year, and the FL didn't seem to be too much of a hindrance. Many of the fears were regarding people marathoning coasters, but that was rarely done. Make no mistake though, CP will attract many more people wanting to marathon then KI.

Great movie

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

My girlfriend lives three hours south of me....I wish there was shagging instead of skyping but ah well...Already TMI for most of you :P

Im just waiting to see the... "What does shagging mean?" post.

Ok here's what she sent to me to forward to you guys:

Here’s a short little explanation of Fast Pass/Fast Lane, as I essentially understand it;
The actual passes were about $50 a person (although I think if you got like five or more you got a lower price, but I don’t know for sure what it was), and gained you exit line or accessibility ramp to a select group of rides (the “Top Ten” of the park). I don’t remember them all off the top of my head, but here are at least five that you could use it on:
Diamondback
The Beast
Adventure Express
Boo Blasters on Boo Hill
Backlot Stunt Coaster

As I was on the Eiffel Tower/Grand Carousel crew, this wasn’t something I had an enormous amount of experience dealing with. I had mixed opinions on it, though; I’m a terribly cheap person, so I would never pay $50 just to not wait as long, however, a shorter wait on Diamondback would totally make my month

I don't like this idea at all.... unlike many who post here, I usually only make it to the park once, or maybe twice per season, on weekends, and I don't know that I can afford to buy a fast pass for everyone in my group. The difference in wait per ride will likely be negligible.... however, even if it adds a 15 minute wait to each line we're in, that probably adds an hour and a half to 2 extra hours in line-wait time per day to the non-Fast Pass user.

For those who have not seen this system in action, it isn't that bad at all at KI. Honestly, the amount of people using the system is small because of the additional price, and marathoning rides does not really happen. I probably only saw one or two dozen people use the system both days I was there on a moderately busy day.

As the year went on, they expanded the selection you could use the pass on. Firehawk was--by far--the one used the most. I believe there were 14 total by the end of the year.

However, my concern is that the percentage of people who frequent KI who identify as "enthusiasts" is going to be far less than those who attend CP. As many of us have seen, many people go there only to marathon coasters, and if given the chance, they will just pay the money and ride a coaster all day long.

Good to hear. As I think about it, generally the only time I ride Millennium and Maverick is during early entry, and I'm guessing those, along with TTD, are where any potential marathoning would occur. So hopefully it wont effect my day too much, unless people are marathoning Gemini, Magnum, and others.

I don't think this means the fun days of massive ride counts are over. I'm sure Saturday's will still be crazy lines and slow days will still be slow. It must not have been a complete bust at KI for them to expand it and then introduce at CP this year.

I think I'd be more excited if Nathan Lane was coming to the park.

Get in line for Space Mountain at Disneyland right after the fireworks, and watch FastPass crash. Especially if it has been a slow day.

Fortunately, Cedar Point doesn't have much in the way of batch-loading (or more important, batch-emptying) attractions that are going to suddenly dump 2,000 people onto a midway and into the nearest queue. That said, if enough people take advantage of this program, they will learn Cedar Point's dirty little secret: if you're not riding, waiting for a ride, or eating bad, overpriced food, odds are you're doing a whole lot of nothing. This has to be handled with care, or CP will see their length of stay take a nosedive. That's bad for resort stays and multi day tickets.

You are certainly onto something in terms of Cedar Point's dirty little secret. We can hope that Ouimet can right the ship a bit in terms of the balance of attractions, but I'm not sure if the park quite has the same audience it did in the 70s and 80s.

"Thank the Phoenicians!"

What was it Bryan said? 25 attractions? My guess:

01. Blue Streak
02. Antique Cars
03. Mine Ride
04. Wildcat
05. Giant Wheel
06. Dodgem II
07. Corkscrew
08. Gemini
09. Jr. Gemini
10. Thunder Canyon
11. Iron Dragon
12. Magnum
13. Disaster Transport
14. Mean Streak
15. Snake River Falls
16. Raptor
17. Mantis:TCFKAB
18. Woodstock Express
19. Millennium Force
20. Wicked Twister
21. maXair
22. Top Thrill Dragster
23. Skyhawk
24. Maverick
25. Shoot the Rapids

Okay, so if you have to wait one cycle for each of those rides, you've spent an hour waiting and an hour riding. By lunch time you've done them all, even at a leisurely pace. If the people who pony up for this pass aren't the type to go do it all again, what, then, are they going to do? Go to Soak City and stand in line all afternoon?
