Magnum XL200 2.0

Maybe all the people hurt by Magnum will want to avoid the Steel Vengeance queue as well since that's bound do deliver some punishment to their thighs and shins. :)

I guess to some of us it hurts so good...

These shin guards better not become a problem because my legs are ridiculously long. I rode joker at SFDK and i barely got by. My leg width wasnt the issue, it was just the length of them that prevented me from sitting properly. My legs were crunched back and i was on my toes. Hopefully the new train design helps a tiny bit. I am sure I will develop a trick to having less shin pain.

If your post is regarding the RMC shin guards, I think you'll find these some of the most comfortable trains you've been in. B&M could learn some lessons from RMC on train design (cough, vest, cough). Otherwise I don't see Magnum ever needing shin guards.

Unfortunately that didn't happen. I walked away feeling as though my lats had just been smacked a dozen times with a stick.

That's because you skipped leg day. Get those deep squats in bro.

What about replacing the trains with new ones built by B&M, like on Steel Dragon 2000?
They look a lot like B&M's hyper trains, but with 2 rows of 2 instead of their usual 1 row of 4 across, and some reason also have shin restraints

Please, No rubber vests. On anything ever again.

No, absolutely not on replacing Magnum trains with anything.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Yeah, I would hate B&M head rests on Magnum.

If I were a fan of Magnum I think I'd welcome a significant investment on a nearly 30 year roller coaster as it would provide some reassurance that it will be around for many years to come. But since I'm not a fan, I'm willing to join the "do not touch Magnum" camp. Keep it as-is for the hardcore fans and let it slowly decline to the point where someone makes a business decision to either send it to another park or send it to the scrap yard. Nothing lasts forever...especially without continued reinvestment.

Except people who have ridden the ride since opening year say Magnum rides the same as it always has. It's not deteriorating, so...

And I'll add that Magnum has received work over the years. Track has been worked on, the trains go in for the once over every single year, stuff like that. I'm not sure that represents a lack of investment, but I am sure that CP didn't throw a ride up to simply watch it deteriorate and hope for the best. The goal might just be to maintain the original experience rather than to "enhance" the ride simply because it's getting up in years.

Repainted, New Doghouse, Reroofed the station, controls, new photo booth..... oh yeah, and its integrated into a new entrance.

Deteriorate? I said "decline" gentlemen. As in decline in popularity with guests or decline in value added to the park when it comes to cost of maintenance versus guest satisfaction. Magnum's ride experience may not have changed but as someone else pointed out earlier in the conversation perception of that experience by the public is different today than it was in 1989 because of the introduction of other coasters. As newer rides continue to be added or transformations like Rougarou and Steel Vengeance occur that perception will continue to change even though Magnum may stay constant.

Anyone else getting NRA ads on this thread? (No doubt because of the word "magnum")

Everyone has different ride experiences but Rougarou is much more painful to me than Magnum. Ouch my ears.

I have read lots of people express dissatisfaction with Mavericks new restraints, but I find them the most comfortable of ANY coaster I have ever ridden, OTSR or lap bar.

Getting an NRA ad today but not yesterday.

I wish you all would show some support for Jeff and Walt and get PointBuzz Premium. No ads and some appreciation.
