New Water slide names at Cedar Point Shores (Soak City)

There is still one of the old RV circles that is right next to CPS that would be ideal land to use for a phase 2 expansion.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Pete, Google Earth shows the RV circle next to the wave pool and Erie Falls but Google maps which appears to be a more recent image (includes Gatekeeper) looks like cabins to me now. I still see RV pads by the far side of the parking lot, but that is a bit of a distance from the current waterpark. Confused, but you spend spend more time there so certainly are more familiar with those areas.

The old RV circle was removed years ago, and replaced with the high-end larger cabins with 2 bathrooms and upper level bedrooms.

^ Where did you hear that from?

I heard or viewed that from different sources.

The lounge chairs began arriving at soak city last fall and Bill Spain (sp?) stated where they were going about a week prior to closing of WWK

Merchandise from a supervisor who assisted packing and shipping it from WWK, she also stated there wasn't much left after their sales something less then a truck load

Culinary equipment from three F&B supervisors/managers and Bill at WWK, F&B staff were sent from CP to WWK to identify items in mid Aug to identify what they could use

Cabanas to Dorney from Bill and appeared to be confirmed by Dorney web page as additional new cabanas for 2017

The bar to Dorney from Dorney's web page as a new item for 2017, images on the page when compared to images from WWK show that an image was photoshopped changing the nameplate on the sign(they also used an image of lakeside pivillon from CP

Slides are true speculation but seems somewhat logical, as for a possible phase two for soak city there is significant space within renigade river for another slide structure with or without modification to the river.

well they better think of something for the WWK slides, CP is the only cedar fair waterpark that does not have a funnel slide or a star attraction. A flow rider would be nice, they are one of my favorite rides.

I can see Cedar Point removing either Renegade River or Main Stream (names of the current Lazy River rides) and in fact putting both a water coaster and a funnel slide in their spot in the future. As much as I like both lazy rivers, I agree with others that a funnel slide and/or a water coaster would round out the future CP Shores and would be much welcomed additions.

I think Renegade River is the better of the two lazy rivers, IMO, but would probably be easier to remove than Main Stream because of that area also having a Tadpole town, some slides, and a volleyball court by it currently.

Interestingly Knott's is removing their ProSlide Tornado. Not sure why, but is being replaced with The Wedge. I read that over the summer and their Wikipedia page shows it as a former attraction. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knott's_Soak_City

What's the over/under that the kids nickname it The Wedgie?

So CF has two "spare" ones.

The thing about lazy rivers is they are capacity monsters and that is a trait CP likes.

Darien Lake has a tornado slide, it's been there since the Six Flags days... I've never been on it. Are they that good that they are considered "signature" slides?

ROUNDABOUND.

I'm surprised we haven't heard what is happening with the slides. The large slide complex (Thunder Falls?) certainly has a lot more going for it than the new "Point Plummet" (I think the drop out floor thing is just a gimmick).

Perhaps all of the slides are being relocated to various parks for a 2018 addition? Which park is slated for a water park expansion? Wonderland?

^Having been on a drop capsule slide (Snake Pit at Dorney Park), I think they are very fun, but one you pull up into the twister section, they aren't much different than a smaller version of Thunder Falls. Which, by the way, was a very good slide tower, and I hope it finds a new home.

I feel like the drop floor slides would work better with Summit Plummet style speed slides - slides that begin with or solely consist of a large, near-vertical drop. Which happens to be the layout of the oldest drop capsule slide I know (Bomb Bay at Wet n' Wild Orlando, which will be closing forever with the rest of the park soon.)

Ok, Knotts and WWK, let's see which park will give CP their tornado slide?? I'll make it a game :)

Looking at the new blueprints of CP Shores and Camera 3 on the Live Cams, I'm wondering why CP didn't cut their 2nd lazy river ride route in half (by the new Breakers expansion) and just relocate WWK's Funnel Slide over there? I think it would have been a great addition and something that is sorely needed at the new expanded CP Shores, along with an outdoor water coaster. Just my 2c.

Maybe they didn't want to make the lazy river lame?

That one already is, though.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

No way! That one has a great length with a nice mix of sun and shade. The other one has been slimy and smelled the last couple times I went in it.

I also prefer the original lazy river (Main Stream) far more than the not-so-lazy river in the new section (Renegade River). In the middle of a hot day, I absolutely love to head over to SC/CP Shores, grab an inner tube, and veg out/go around in circles in Main Stream for a while. (IMO it's one of the best things to do for a break from the heat and the rides--right up there with the glassblowing theater, the ice-cold Top Thrill Dragster gift shop, and the Thunder Canyon platform.) There is absolutely no way you can veg out in Renegade River like you can in Main Stream; between the waterfalls, the buckets of cold water, the tower mist sprayers, the crazy wave current channel, and the people wading rapidly past you, you really have to be alert at all times for whatever's going to come next. Also, since Main Stream is deeper and has a smooth sealed concrete trough, you can swim and wade through it easier and with far less pain than Renegade River, since RR is shallower and has a rough unsealed concrete trough. I like to occasionally get off my inner tube and swim for a bit, so naturally I prefer Main Stream for this reason as well. All in all, I'm happy that there's two lazy rivers, for while some people find Main Stream too boring, others (like me) find Renegade River to be too wild. There's a nice dichotomy between the two rivers, and combining both types into one experience (like WildWater Kingdom did with their lazy river) tends to create a river that is a jack of all trades and a master of none.
