Reasons Cedar Point is going downhill

^The drop in ridership has a lot to do with operational changes. Expect major drops in 2007 due to rainy days.

this needs to say Geauga lake is going downhill. Disney have really bad safely record.

Disney has an excellent safety record. If you're referring to people who had pre-existing conditions and then rode rides, then that's not Disney's fault.

Josh - I think you hit the nail on the head. There are things CP has succeeded at as well as things they've failed at (and things that are just "meh"). The food quality is definitely one issue that needs to be addressed.

It seems as if the food that we served in the Hotel is millions of times better than whats in the park.

On another note, I would love for there to be an AMERICAN CHEESE ON A STICK!

Frankly, I'm concerned about the food, strictly from a what I want perspective. Judging by the lines at the food vendors this year, it seems that most people either don't care about the terrible quality, or don't care enough. Either way, it's bad.

Brandon

I've never had to experience bad food. Everything I get is grear and good quality. Maybe I'm just not picky.

We've never had an issue with the food either. Could it be better - sure. But, it's theme park food. We get our junk food snacks throughout the day and have a sit down meal at a place like Game Day or Breakwater. The only thing I miss is Toll House ice cream sandwiches, but I'm pretty sure Disney is the only park that carries the crack on a stick. :)

mmmmm Toll House Cookie Sandwiches. I could live off of those! ;)

Reasons CP is going downhill. I can think of 17 reasons...17 coasters! Wha Wha Whaaaaaa! ;) Corny, I know.

I really don't eat in the park any more. I may grab a snack like a pretzel, but I don't really eat full meals there. I usually go to TGI Friday's in the BH tower section. No question on the quality there.

CPboy77, you need to try to resist chiming in on things when you have no idea what you're talking about. Your subjective one-liners add nothing to the conversation. Just stop!

Also, I've never had food that's "grear". Is that a good thing?

When is the last time you've been to Disney?

\/ reply to halltd below: ok fine I guess I'm the only one that's bothered by CPboy77. I'll quit ranting about him.

^ Angry much?

What's so wrong with him having a subjective opinion on food? I'm pretty sure food IS subjective and that's why he said he's never had an issue with it.

You may think the food is bad. But, CPboy doesn't think it is. So, that adds more to the conversation than you mocking his obvious typo.

Also, him going to Disney has no relevance to him liking the food at Cedar Point or not. I've been to Disney thousands of times and haven't had an issue with CP's food during any of my visits. I've also traveled the world and eaten at 5-star restaurants. Again, no relevance to me thinking the food at Cedar Point is ok.

All the times everyone has spoke about the food, and all the times ive been at the point. I cant find the cheese on a stick. I have no idea if i am just gullible and think it is real. Or do they really sell it somewhere in the park. Just an off topic kinda thing since we are talking about food.

Is that over around the space spiral?

Yes. They also sell it next to the ICEE stand by Maverick. I'm not sure what it's called. They used to (not sure if they still do) have it at Happy Frier across from Gemini too.

It's awesome!!

It's Sagebrush Sue's Frontier Food Company.

CP is going down hill? Thanks for the update.I never would have known.Sure there are small problems but can you go anywhere without that happening?I try not to nit pic since the big picture is so enjoyable. My children don't even notice the expensive food...lol..As long as they continue to have fun I will to.I notice all the small stuff. My little one loves the Breakers hallway .She calls it the windy hallway. We love the crappy ship store and like the beach.I love the good free coffee in the entrance of the Bon Air section. We love the arcade and the special times we have together.I could have fun there and not go on a single ride.they are putting in a new family section . Maverick and most of the rides go downhill {what goes up must go down}but come on.

I do feel that "going downhill" is a bit drastic. Cedar Point is still a great amusement park, if not "the greatest", but he park is just taking some dips in places where they didn't in the past. Most of the dips aren't even visible to the average guest, but most people on Pointbuzz can find them no problem.

On a positive note, with a little bit of money and rethinking of a few things the park can easily turn-around.

Hershey Park is close to beating CP in attendance now am I right?

I agree with people saying CP tries to be a one day place and resort at the same time.

Like I always said they lack things to drive the night. Downtown Disney for example. Put-In-Bay is no Downtown Disney.

CP has what it takes to be more then a regional park, but I think more families are seeing Six Flags as competition. Since they both are packing the coasters in some parks.

I think this is more or less what does CP need to do to keep in line with the industry?

CP might claim to have 17 coasters, but some of them are due to come down if you ask me. CP could be keeping them up for the title of 17 coasters.

Hershey is in a different location and has a different operating schedule. Attendance has little to do with it. CP has it's place which is theoretically between 3 and 3.4 million a year. The reason this is so tough to figure out is where CP stands as an amusement park. I really don't think it has ever reached the point of a national park. It is a regional park and it has little competition to do deal with outside of the internet, movie theaters, and malls.

I really think we have to let this drag out for a little while. Cedar Fair is going through a ton of changes and I think it is taking a major bite into all their parks. With the GL situation, they got a money draining park taken out and they were able benefit from many of the rides taken from there for 2008. Season passes seem more organized and company seems to have some good plans laid out for all the parks. CP adding more kid based attractions is something that needed to happen and if they decide to keep the Peanuts theme or move to something else, I hope they take that more seriously and make a strong grab at that market in the future.

Other areas in the park that need work have already been discussed. Operations might be changing a little with a new manager in charge. Who knows where foods is headed, but no matter how much some of you hate them, Chick-Fil-A and Panda Express have been good additions to the park. The last and probably the most important change has to come to staffing. The park has to figure out a way to keep their good employees to stay not only through Halloweekends, but carry them over to work a couple more seasons. They will have to create some kind incentives and new ways of going about their current systems to keep the working environment happy.
