Ride Spiels

Okay so about ride spiels, they seem so fun!! But are they hard? And who does them? Do we all get to?

Everyone on a rides crew rotates positions through the day and tosses the mic around so you will get a chance. It is pretty fun I totally loved it. There was times I didn't because you do feed off of your crowd. If there's no energy or vibe. I lost luster. So its a give and take sorta thing. If you're afraid of talking in front of people, don't like hearing your own voice, or can't multitask (check harnesses and stuff while speieling) it could be hard, but it grew on me. Here is me kinda speieling during my season when we were running one train op. I did cp trivia and stuff in between the two min wait for the train to roll back in. Thanks to coaster Bob again for this...it doesn't often happen seeing yourself on YouTube at cp haha

OMG. I totally watched that before. Haha! That's awesome. I was looking for the mantis spiel, I wanted to get an idea what to look forward too. I'm really excited I think I will be able to talk them up =] you get a great view of Ttd and the Walmart joke was soo funny.

I personally am not an employee, but would you guys as ride operators prefer pre-recorded spiels over the ones you have to say, or do you enjoy it?

Of course some people like the idea of automated spiels because they are very repetitive but live spiels tend to get better feed back. Guest's respond better when spiels are made live. Not to mention we can have fun with it which can make for a better experience for both guests and employees.

Power Tower has spiels but no headset/microphone as seen in the video of Corkscrew

2011 - Monster/Witches' Wheel, Power Tower
2012 - Power Tower, Dragster
2013 - Dragster

I personally enjoy us doing the speils. The guests are more attenative to what you are saying if you do it live rather than a pre-recorded one going on... and on...

As a visitor, the live spiels are so much better. Last year, we were at CP 5 of the first 7 days. One of the hosts at Raptor recognized us and have a spiel 'tailored' to us. That was probably my favorite flight of Raptor last year.

Yeah, you spiel guests for power tower...I loved that part, I'd walk em through the launch and trick them and screw with them a bit or brief them before taking them to the top...fun times haha...there is an automatic queue spiel that plays but do guests listen or is it turned on all of the time...hell no...and man Chris its been forever how are ya man

Bethany, you know how I loved pressing the auto-spiel button at Cads :)

Live spiels can be special. A few years ago I recognized one of the ride ops, on the Mine Ride, as a girl I had in high school. When the ride returned to the station she announced "Let's hear it for the man in blue. Mr. C---- was my favorite math teacher." The platform broke out in applause and cheers. I turned about 3 shades of red and pink. But I did get a hug!

Live-spiels are better in my opinion. In 2008 at Raptor I tailored the spiels to real events or songs that were playing in the queue line. For example when Dire Straits song "Money for Nothing" came on and I was on spiel, my normal loose article spiel became; "Loose articles include hats, glasses, cell phones, keys, purses, loose fitting shoes, stuffed animals, custom kitchens, color TV's, microwave ovens, and refrigerators Or "Here on Raptor we will take you up 2004 down 5001 at a 920 degree angle reaching 900+ MPH, flipping upside down 70 ways in 1000 different ways" There you get the funny looks from the people where actually listen to the spiel.
