Shoot the Rapids is being removed!

My bet is a wooden coaster or a flyer.

Despite the issues with the ride... I'm pretty shocked. I wonder what the final straw was with the ride... the 2013 incident? Or maybe there were severe maintenance issues moving forward? To spend over ten million dollars on an attraction that operated for six seasons... I'd like to see a traditional log flume come back though.

Not a water ride fan so I can honestly say I never rode this ride. Not surprised it's leaving. Hope it does eventually get replaced with a nice traditional log flume though.

Actions speak louder than words. Just about sums up CF's relationship with Intamin. Cut your losses and move on!

I wonder who has the big mouth that constantly leaks stuff to the Sandusky Register.

I miss the days where we didn't know what the park did during the offseason until we stepped foot in the park for the first time of the year

When they built it, I recall them saying that water rides come best in threes at parks. I would expect a new one coming in the next 5 years or so.

As many of you know, I really really enjoyed Shoot the Rapids. I'm crushed about it, but at the same time, It's a business decision and I have to move on. I know everyone on here is happy and I say good for you! I just hope whatever goes in the area, they keep the scenery as pretty as it was when Shoot the Rapids was there. That's all I have to say for now.

That's the right attitude Shawn! You took that loss better than Cam Newton!

Pleasantly surprised.

Sorry, Shawn.

Based on this, I would like to think they'd be adding some type of water coaster in Soak City next year along with the speculated expansion. Makes sense to build one if they're in fact going to update their water park.

Well, didn't see that one coming. For this season, at least.

If they were actually in the process of tearing it down, it's hard to keep it under wraps. It doesn't mean someone is leaking info to the Register. All it takes is someone that lives or works on the peninsula to see something going on out of the norm that piques their interest and happens to know someone over at the Register to tip them off.

Count me in as someone who is disappointed to see it go. Sure it wasn't the best water ride out there but I enjoyed my rides on it. It was a great view from the Frontier Trail.

At this point, I would not count out a new water ride for 2017. Can't believe how little this ride lasted.

^^This is also known as a leak. Besides Bay Harbour customers, there is not anyone on point this time who did not agree to a non-disclosure agreement. Correct me if I am wrong, but STR can not be seen from the Marina parking even in the winter.

Thought we would see Mean Streak go before STR to be honest...

^^But maybe they could've seen pieces of it being hauled away.

If they are hauling away STR, we probably would have seen the trucks go by on the web cams. They would not send trucks by Bay Harbour while it is open. If someone spotted steel supports in a scrap yard or was dedicated enough to set up surveillance on a nearby public street, we would have pictures.

Cedar Fair employees better be ready for a rough staff meeting tomorrow.

Last edited by jscll,

Could you guys really even see them building a traditional flume? I mean, they are pretty outdated (which parks actually build new traditional flumes these days??) and capacity may not be the best.

Well this is a shock! Too bad I never once went on it. Between the number of rides bholcomb, wolfbobs, and I have on it, I guess it's a clear indication of why it's leaving.
