Thoughts and observations

Various thoughts, opinions and general first impressions.

-- Announcing the same ride, with the same name, at four parks, on the same day, just feels … I don't know ... generic. I understand the experience of the ride does not change because another exists, but still …

-- I love the idea of extending out onto the beach. I've felt for a long time that the view of the beach should more prominent from inside the park.

-- I'm glad the Extreme Sports Stadium wasn't affected. The show there is underrated. Hopefully there will be more of a draw back there with the new neighbor.

-- The ride will look gorgeous on the beach, day and night. It fits into the skyline beautifully.

-- Being prone to motion sickness, I'm not sure how quickly I'll get in line. The height doesn't bother me, at least I don't think it will. That might change once I'm swinging at 300 feet. :)

Same here, but I'll ride it once and see how it goes.

Yea, I find it kinda odd that kings island and cedarpoint are getting the same ride at the same time and with the same name to boot.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'll just watch from the ground for a few minutes. Then start feeling ill just from watching. :)

I was hoping for a better name like "Boo Swing on Boo Beach" but WindSeeker is okay.

That POV video made me feel a little queasy. Maybe the spinning sensation won't be so pronounced at that height; everything is relatively far away compared with ground-level spinning flats.

Just say no to trims

I hear what you all are saying about "same ride, same name". It is common practice though. Look at King Cobra. The Italian Job. Flight of Fear. The latter 2 being the exact same ride. All having the same name though. It is kind of a blah feeling when parks do this. Disney has done it also. Each ride will be different in its experience because of the view offered by each park.

I would not think much about the same name, same ride, if the parks were not so close together. Kings island and cp are too close together for a lot of people not to notice.

I bet on a clear day, you can see one windseeker from the top of the other.;)

I'm curious as to what is happening to the beach entrance. From the looks of it both ocean motion and the beach entrance are gone in the video. I know its too early to tell and that its just a CGI video but it leaves me wondering where the base of the ride is actually going to sit. Apart from that its a nice addition. I was still praying for a coaster but oh well, maybe next year.

The ride/name thing isn't new. I think Planet Snoopy would be a great addition for every park. But this many on the same day?

crazy horse - All those parks have various flat rides that are identical. I don't see how this is any different (from a guest perspective) from two parks within a day's drive having swinging ship rides (or any other flat ride common to amusement parks).

Brandon

In the video to me it looked like the midway extending out onto the beach....what maybe 50 feet or so. It will be replacing the current entrance and yet not knowing where that will end up; perhaps somewhere further North on the coastline? I would venture a guess that the q-line will be where OM is now.

I want to ride it so bad, but know I will have motion sickness the rest of the day. I was getting dizzy focusing on the video...how sad is that? It's a visually impressive ride, a great price, and an incredible location extending on the beach. That area of the park needs a ride like this (along with a classic wooden coaster...hint, hint, nudge, nudge). Anyway, I was very surprised the same ride is going to Kings Island as well, but I'm happy with the addition adding variety to the park and dramatics to the skyline.

The ride action of spinning does not bother me at all, but the height certainly will. Sitting in a seat 300 feet up with my feet dangling like on a ski lift is pretty intimidating for me. With TGIFriday's just down the boardwalk, I might have to drink a couple of Long Island Iced Teas before trying this one.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

True, but every park has flat rides. Flat rides are not a main draw for a park like cedarpoint and kings island. The windseeker is not as common as a scrambler or tilt a whirl.

This is a MAJOR new attraction for the park(s). I guess I would not see a problem with any of it, if the parks were not so close together.

When speculating that the ride may be a Star Flyer, I immediately refused to consider riding such a ride, because of the chains holding the chairs, and the swaying of the seats.

Someone asked me why I wouldn't ride it, I said the chains, but if the seats were solid I would consider it.

Then the Windseeker rumor started flying, with the solid arms. I started considering riding it.

Now that I know the height is 300ft, not that 400ft would of stopped me, I really think I am going to give this ride a whirl. . :)

It looks peaceful, quiet, and it may be quite enjoyable.

GATEKEEPER-I came, I rode, I was mildly disappointed; until a second ride (rear left) put GateKeeper back on the...it's a nice ride list.

Crazy Horse, Cedar Point and Kings Island are 4 hours away from each other. Cedar Point and Kennywood are closer together. The parks are pretty spread out.

Eh, I don't agree that these are "MAJOR" additions, especially in the eyes of the average park guest. Maybe I'm underestimating their draw, but I just don't see this ride garnering attention outside of each park's typical local market.

That's not to say I think announcing all of these identical rides on the same day is the best idea ever. And I would have liked to see a bit of park-specific theme on each, but I'm not sure what they could do in that regard.

Brandon

Will the park entrance gate be moved? The animation doesn't quite indicate how things will be arranged by the base of the tower.

Also, can we assume that construction won't start until the season is over? It would seem that any digging in that area might disrupt the park entrance.

A 300 foot ride IS a major attraction.

That would be like saying that power tower was not a major attraction. But I do agree that announcing all of them on the same day is kinda odd.

What do you guys think the other $1 million will be used for at the park? Maybe to fix Shoot the Rapids?
