Update: 5/13 construction photos

The words "Storm Runner" are PULSING through my head.

And I'm feeling Intamin Looper now with the addidition of the word "Sidewinder".

Oh, and on the second day of operation the card reader was having trouble reading my season pass, and I got through, and there was Tony chukling at me. I almost said hi.

Is there a difference in the round and rectangular footers? Most support footers are circular, right? Are the rectanular footers for the station or maybe mounts for the lift motor/drum? When is the station foundation normally built? I haven't seen any building foundations in any of the photos so far. If it was going to be a hydrolic launch like some are speculating, don't they usually build the launch room pretty early in the construction phase?

Edit for pics:
The only square footers I see on MF are for the station:

Here may be the station for project 2007?

A sidewinder is also a snake, and a missle...

I just think it means the ride will have multiple helixes.

"were going in a whole new direction"....
Im thinking the train will go backwords. Just think going up a 300ft hill facing backwords and then not know whats coming next!

Why can't that just mean they're not replacing the flume with another flume?

I swear you guys read into everything.

I guess because no one has ever seen a flume that used Intamin track.

KevinJ - He said NOT replacing a flume with another flume, you misunderstood.

I took the "whole new direction" thing to mean that this area is going in a whole new direction - from flume to coaster.

Nice photos and updates Walt.

Oh. :) (sorry Jeff). Coffee intake commenscing.

I do agree with Jeff that many people are looking into everything as having a cryptic meaning. Some are just obvious...some are just trying to get your attention. The problem, I guess, is that 99.99% of us do not know which are meant to be a bit cryptic and which are not.

I wish they would give us a difficult riddle that would give a big clue into what it would be. That's my kind of teasing ;)

Well, I'd bet money on "Maverick" now... and since the word can mean two things, (1. An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it.
2. One that refuses to abide by the dictates of or resists adherence to a group; a dissenter.) it'll probably be a unique western-themed coaster that will not adhere to normal coaster protocol... sounds cool!

The Western theme seems like a good idea; I like the Western theme at SFGAm, with all of the barrels, western toons and cacti. With Raging Bull, Viper and Giant Drop catering to the West. I guess that's what CP is doing, seeing all the slang on the signs, and the possibility of Maverick.

And also these overhead, oldfashion lights; which is a cool idea as well. http://pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=3562

All my life I've been an obese man trapped inside a fat man's body

Does it seem that CP is having way to much fun with all of the signs? (Not that it's a bad thing.)It looks like they have about ten or so of them.

BTW Thanks for the great pics Walt!

R.I.P. Mr. Scott

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet but i especially like the peep holes drilled in the fence.

^ same here Alexandersco.

And I do not believe that anyone had mentioned it yet.

R.I.P. Mr. Scott

I saw those too...just big enough to stick a digital camera in there ;)

Alexandersco, I'm guessing the holes are also a safety move, to help prevent people from climbing on benches or putting people on each other's shoulders to try to see the construction area (ex. TTD).

Besides, the area is way too big, and way to visible from too many areas to try to keep it TOP secret that something is going on. They're just fuelling the gossip fire. I like it :)

Actually the holes are there, because I recommended them a few days before they were added... ;)

Could Intamin be attempting a beyond vertical coaster, like the one in Oakwood park. The one sign says "We're goin in a whole new direction" That is the only real direction they have not gone yet. The one in Oakwood is not an Intamin, but I am sure that CP and intamin are not going for anything done before.

ARen't they using WWL station as the station for the new one.

Noone's absolutely sure if the WWL station will be used as the new one, but as far as i can tell there's new boards on the walkway leading up to the station.

I don't think they'd add something like that if it wasn't going to be used anymore.

Here's the link to the pic showing new boards...
