That would be a cool place for lunch. Great view of the lake and maybe big enough if the group is split up like it is for the tour.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Just saw the tweet from Tony.....

"Bacon Mac-N-Cheese. That is all. #WinterChillOut"

.....Tony you just may have become my hero! LoL

From the looks of this, I think it's going to end up being next Saturday.

They're calling for 1-3 inches, but it's also going to be 37 degrees.

If it's only 1-3 inches, then probably not. The Weather Channel really likes to overhype things for ratings. I really don't want it to be rescheduled. Tony said they will make an announcement at 5PM today if they need to reschedule.

Yeah, it's going to be warm (36) with only on and off light snow. I wouldn't postpone for that, it's not a storm and it is winter. I think it will be really nice walking through the park during a light snow fall.

Yes, I would like to see the park covered in snow, that's not something you get to see in person everyday.

Yeah, you have fun with that.

I went on one of these once and I didn't find it all that interesting. The "backstage" areas at CP are for the most part visible from the midway in the summer anyway. I called it the Behind the Bushes tour. We went under coasters in the snow, and made our way down icy steps to stand around behind Maverick's station. My feet froze.

The events these days are a little more involved than the one I attended, so there's that. (We had Chet and Matts afterward)

I suppose an advance look at Rougarou and that pavilion will be fun for those who like construction messes.

30s might seem like a heat wave after these sub zero temps, but take my advice. Several warm socks will be the order of the day.

Have fun everyone and be safe to and from.

And hey, you're donating to GKTW, so there is that.

Well, I just took 17 runs down the ski slopes and it is about 1 degree out, I was comfortable. 36 degrees is a heat wave and about as nice as one can reasonably expect February to be, outside of some abnormally warm weather event. Dress for winter, including proper shoes, and it will be a fun time.

To me this isn't one reason to participate - it is the only reason. Yes - these events are a blast, but the real point is to gather money for GKTW while having a good time doing it. (Coasting for Kids anyone?) If the weather is too bad for me this weekend - I may skip the event and consider the donation to GKTW to be well spent.

Little tips and secrets from Tony and the gang? All great fun, but everyone here will know about them by Saturday afternoon. Cedar Point swag? Love every bit of it - keep it coming. I am most proud of my Winter Chill Out shirts that I have collected though the years. Every time I wear them in the park I get people asking about the event and asking about GKTW. Win/Win. Lunch, Calendars, FOL passes - other free stuff, it is all very kind of Cedar Point to donate and I know this event is a major undertaking for Tony, Kristy and the staff. This is all done - as near as I can tell - for the love of GKTW.

If it weren't for Winter Chill Out - I might never have been exposed to GKTW and for that I will always be grateful.

So suck it up - put on some warm socks and I'll see you all Saturday!

On the website it says that tours could last up to six hours. Why would a tour around the park take so long if one was to be six hours?

I just talked to Kristy in Marketing, she said that for the 8:30 group, the whole event will last until 3:30. Most of the event will be the walking tour, except for a break inside for a 30 minute presentation, and a break for lunch.

Wow. Just when I was starting to feel bad about earlier admonishments.... :-)

Seriously, GKTW is my charity of choice these days and a fine reason to attend this event. When I'm at WDW I always keep an eye out for families, they arent hard to spot. Sometimes if the timing seems right I'll stop to say hello and visit for a sec, give the kid a pin or something. (Once one of the dads asked me for a cigarette and I was happy to oblige...) But the opportunity to meet the folks who benefit from this good work is awesome if not quite humbling.

Winter tours just aren't my thing (anymore) but I'll make sure to keep my donations rolling in around CFK time.

For me, to be completely honest, I don't care at all about the charity. I just want to see the park! The charity is still great, however.

Wow. Just wow.
