Gatekeeper Test runs

CP took the cams down on purpose to most likely hide the testing (see previous posts). If somebody that does live close could verify this then please do.

Based on this tweet - I'd say that's exactly the case.

How does that tweet confirm that they're testing?

Just drawing my own conclusions... That's what the internet is for!

i knew they would pull this BS. its so stupid to try to hide it, as i see no reason too!

You may not see a reason to, but the park certainly does.

This is not the first time they've blocked the webcams during testing of a new ride and neither are they the first park to do this.

It makes perfect sense during the initial phase of testing. You don't want images of something going wrong during testing of your shiny new ride getting out if you can help it.

There is a very good reason to. If by the rare chance something does happen like it valleys during the run or something along those lines, they would not want the public to be able to see it. The internet would just blow it out of proportion. Cedar Point wants to be the one who distributes video/photos of how the first test run went.

Coasters I want to ride: #1 El Toro #2 Leviathan #3 The Voyager #4 I305 #5 Behemoth

It seems pretty straightforward to me, not sure why there is so much discussion. They've had multiple webcams up the entire time this coaster has been built, fine by me if they want to have some privacy while testing.

I'm just hoping that they have been testing today and we can see a point cast maybe by tonight.

I understand the reason for them wanting to privately conduct the initial full circuit testing. I will admit however, I am having a mild panic attack with the webcams being down.

I'm not sure. Ok , if they do testing and they have a problem or a fire. OK, so what? I am correct saying that this is WHY they do the testing. I mean, they are putting dummies on the track right now, if the train for some reason falls off the track, a dummy dies!

I am not worried, mistakes happen, this is why they test. Would you rather a test fail, then a regular run when you are on the train?

perhaps they are just moving the cams, remember they asked a while back where the cams should be?

I will drive down to Battery Park Marina on my way to work .But its like 29 degrees with the wind chill here in Sandusky.I'll see if I can see anything. keep my fingers crossed!

@EatonJB

Lets say they kept the webcams on and there was a fire or dummys fell out. Now the public has pictures of the roller coaster malfunctioning. That may discourage people from riding the ride if they see it on fire or dummys falling out.
We enthusiasts know the ride will be fine, but some people don't know that and may be scared to ride because of the failed testing.

They wouldn't completely remove the webcams from the site just so they could be moved, the cams being moved would disappear from the webcam page, leaving only the dragster cam, since it is the only one confirmed to be staying.

Why doesn't someone go setup a webcam of their own right outside the park? lol.

Nope nothing. Kinda figured that much.

hopefully the webcams will be up and running tomorrow...and maybe we will see a video of the first test run

It's still too cold up there today and not above 40 degrees. They will more than likely test tomorrow since the high is in the 50s

FWIW my "not sure if serious" post back on the first page was not referencing B&M or Intamin, it was referencing the post talking about rides on fire and all kinds of silly disasters happening during testing.

I thought I'd be sly, and check the Registercam.... Nope, down also.
