Maverick

I was thinking that since there was a Ford Maverick and a Buick Skyhawk those names would have been TM for keychains and attire but i guess not

If it is what I've been hearing, I think we'll all be happy campers.

Just don't make me PGP encode my answer and decode it after they announce something, like we did for WT. ;)

So, Jeff (or anyone who was around)... I wasn't around for the WT fiasco. Can someone fill me in, either here or via PM?

Puh-leeeaaassseee???

I also was not around for the Wicked Twister fiasco...is there a link to an old thread that would fill me in?

I have one question.

How did this ever get out? I know its public information, but just how was someone inclined to check and see if Cedar Fair had registered a new name?

Just knowing the right people I guess?

This is...I'll say...provocative. With all the stuff thats filed under this, I would bet this is the new rides name.

I asked Tony and Tyler when they are going to talk more about Maverick. Think Ill get a reply? Ha

From what I remember about the WT thing, I think a lot of people doubted whether Jeff really knew what was going to be built. So Jeff wrote up what he thought (knew) it was going to be and encoded it and released the key for it after the announcement in order to prove he knew what it was.

Hmm.

Any chance you feel a desire to share what you've been hearing, Jeff?

Or should we all just sit tight trusting that we're going to be happy little campers.

But no designer can up and produce a ride ready to be built and installed in only a few months. It takes years, and if Kinzel changes his mind about what to build at THIS point, it's too late to put it into production.
If they DID go higher I would hope that it was by means of a lift, like a larger Millennium Force, but I don't see this happening either. Again, the proportions of that ride would be massive. Everything would be huge, which leads to more land (I know, no space problem, but this is space inconvenience), more supports, more track and more money. I just don't think this is a cost-effective measure for CP while they could get 1, 2 or even 3 rides for the same price tag.

Well let me address your first statement: It's obvious that "no designer can up and produce a ride ready to be built and installed in only a few months", yes it takes time....but what if it has been on the drawing board since 03 or 04. Dragster was on the drawing bored since 2001(I think) so what if there's something they've been comming up with for the past 3 years. What if they began running ideas after the 03 season? I'm sure 2 years is a decent enough amount of time.
Some serious thinking goes on. It's not like they would make a last minute decision. They go with an idea and mold it. I would guess that it might work something like this: December 03-Ideas start flying Mid summer 04-An idea is formed and they hire the desired company(Intamin, B&M, etc). End of 04/ early 05-designs are presented and one is chosen. A few weeks later-the steel starts to be manufactured overseas. End of 05/early 06-the steel is manufactured and is shipped(but takes a while to be shipped) while land clearing is undergone.Mid/late 06-steel erection begins.
Now that is a really rough idea. Dont say I'm wrong becasue I know it's off. I'm not trying to say that this is a true statement, I'm just making an assumption after past rides.

Next, I'll agree with you that, if it IS a monster coaster, it wont be a launch coaster. I mean that's kind of a given answer. I would say it would be more along the lines of Millennium. And yes it's dimensions would be outrageous.

All in all, almost all of us don't know what's comming in 07. I say almost all of us because I feel that there are some people on here who have a hint (not a definate answer) as to what's comming.;). (I'm not pointing fingers)

Wow Jeff, that actually made me laugh (I think that's a first ;) )
But just for the heck of it, why don't you put out something coded. I could always mail it to the CIA.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I really like the name. It fits in with Frontier Town and it's definition fits in well with what the ride will be...that is if it does what I've been hearing.

mav·er·ick pronounced (mvr-k, mvrk)
n.

One that refuses to abide by the dictates of or resists adherence to a group; a dissenter.

As I've been saying for months now, I will be very surprised if there isn't a bunch of ground work and site prep already done by opening day 2006. This time around, I doubt they will go out of their way to put up walls you can't see through though.

Those of you convinced that it won't be one of the biggest coasters on the peninsula should do your homework...as of late, that just aint Kinzel's style.

And as of late, I think Kinzel is realizing that may not be what's best for the park.

From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~

Very few, if any, who know anything will say. It's kind of a "code of ethics" thing.

Whatever this ride will be...it will be BIG. This thing has been Trademarked for sales big time. Dare I say this blitz will be bigger than MF and TTD'S?

Looks like it to me.

I'm just going to put this one out there (B&M 4D)! :)

Anyway, I can't see a ride being bigger than MF and TTD, but I hope CP will prove me wrong.

2007 is going to be the greatest year of my life. New coaster, turn 18, graduate from high school, and finally work at CP. Only 650 days or so left till opening day 2007. :)
