Maverick Tunnel Themeing

yet still funny. :)

I rode twice on Maverick's opening day and never saw any mist. It sounds cool though, hopefully they'll be bringing it back.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

The mist in the tunnel is already gone, the water bombs aren't functioning, next will be the water flowing over the canyon.

That'll leave......nothing, exactly what we've come to expect from Cedar Point.

Any takers on when the rock canyons are removed?

How long did it take for the WWL canyons to be removed? :)

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Ugh... I learned that they are actually using water and not smoke. What a boneheaded move that is. Not only does it not stay suspended in the air the way smoke does, but it also sucks when it's cold (see: Iron Dragon).

So your idea is to use something with water, add a bunch of moisture control stuff at extra cost, instead of just using something that doesn't create moisture?

I'm sure they'd sign off on that.

Hmmm. I wonder why they didn't listen to you on this one, Jeff?

Duh, that was assuming they didn't use it in the first place. I never said I knew which they were using.

Do you ever work?

Yes, I'm very efficient at my job. But, thanks for asking.

I think the mist is actually a pretty good idea. It doesn't require oil refills like the theatrical smoke would, which hopefully means it won't be down because someone forgot to fill it. It also smells better and it probably feels somewhat refreshing on a hot day, and it will keep the temperature in the tunnel down. A pretty good choice by CP as far as I'm concerned.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I think the mist is good too. I know a lot of people that are sensitive to the smoke used in theater productions. Also, I think using something that doesn't suspend in the air is a good idea. Like others have said, if a ride op needs to go into the tunnel to launch a train, it would be a good idea if they could see the controls. Mist shouldn't float up into the station like fog either.

They should find out what Disney is using on the re-worked Pirates. That does a great job for the effect, but dissipates easily. It doesn't smell, but also doesn't feel moist. So, I'm not sure what it is.

What about the fog that sits fairly low to the ground? or is that what's used on Pirates? It's been awhile since I was there...

Pirates has a new effect with some type of "mist curtain" that comes from above and they project an image of Davey Jones on it. It's VERY cool. It almost seems like half mist/half fog. Whatever it is, it's brilliant.

Almost sounds like dry ice.

Ride on, MrScott!

You would wonder in the upcoming seasons if they continue to keep all the theming in the tunnel or take it out as they did with Magnum.

Terror Island Screamster 08', 09', 10', 11'

A projected image on dry ice wouldn't work that well, I'm thinking its a mist curtain of some sort..

Our of curiousity, what themeing was there in the Magnum tunnels that was removed?

I really hope the mist stays. It's perfect for that tunnel.

I thought that was the coolest thing. They make a white curtain of fog and make it look like a waterfall. You think you're going to get wet until you actually go through it.

While cool, it's not that new of an idea. I can't think where I've seen it before though (unless you count the entire finale of Poseidon's Fury at Islands of Adventure).
