Midway is flooded!

One heck of a thunderstorm just went through cedar point flooding the midway, flating trash cans and all!

opps floating trash cans

Yeah I just saw that. Didn't know if it was worth starting a thread for, but I suppose you did...

There was a warning up for the area, they said large hail was likely in the Cedar Point and Sandusky areas...

I wonder if they got hail... its clear they got a good soaking...

Wow that's insane. We had some wicked rain here earlier, along with hail. The midway is completely covered.

Yeah, it looks like its starting to clear, but in the thick of it, every minute you saw another trash can washing across the midway...

Odd though, because radar only estimates that around 1.3 inches of rain fell in the past hour there.

I never remember seeing the midway that flooded my 2 summers there.

... but if that 1.3 inches fell in 20 minutes that's pretty signifigant.

WOW!!! Has this ever happened before?

Well... yes, of course...

This isn't the first time a severe storm has hit the park...

How do you think they cleared the land for Gemini? ;)

In a manner that Auntie Em would be proud.

SkyHawk looks like all the power went out on it right now (on the cam).

Midway flooding isn't really all that uncommon.

A lot of folks forget that the park is practically an island in the middle of a big lake. The water table is really, really high.

The midway flooding, at least, really has more to do with the fact the drainage system can't handle that much rain in that amount of time.

The flooding that I'm sure is happening in Camper Village, however ...

Is that why they dont allow tents, because of that reason?

From the SPC Storm Reports:

2304-75 SANDUSKY ERIE OH 4146 8271 HAIL WAS AT CEDAR POINT. (CLE)

Sounds like they had 3/4 inch diameter hail at the park with that storm as well...

^ Wow we didnt get hail here, east of cleveland, plus a storm?! Poor CedarPoint. :] *** Edited 6/20/2006 12:41:38 AM UTC by Jerreus***

Some people have way too much time on their hands if they are staring at a webcam watching a thunderstorm. Wow.

I just saw the most impressive, well organized wall cloud roll over my house minutes ago. Naturally I busted out the camera to record it. It was fairly awesome.
