Review process

I just applied Jan 3rd, 2016 now Jan 5 & 6 its says that my application is being reviewed by managers in my choice 1. How long does it usually take for them to review my application ? And can 2 different departments offer you a job ?

What department? If it's rides, I know leadership will be getting their calls soon (maybe next week?). After that, regular employees will be called.

Last year I received emails from a rides manager and a foods manager (even though I put foods as one thing I wouldn't do) within 2 days, but I didn't even respond to the foods email as I wasn't interested in foods, and I got the job in rides about a week and a half after the first email from my rides manager.

I'm eagerly awaiting my application to be reviewed and to get my call for 2016 :)

• admissions
•Challenge Park - operations
•Park Services
•Park operations

Park Services are the Sweeps are the crews that keep the park clean. They are the yellow/white shirts and the orange shirts you see all around the park.

Park Operations is the biggest office in the park. They consist of Ride Operations, Soak City and Resorts Lifeguards, Security, the Safety teams, Admissions, Challenge park, and a lot of the office staff around the park, as well as all of their respective management and it also includes the high park management. The Park Ops office is basically the brain of the park. They monitor everything in the park and they make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible to keep the guests safe and happy.

If you applied, you can expect it to be reviewed and you may be contacted within the next month or so.

Okay. Yeah everybody's application basically goes into a pool, and based off of what your main choices are, those departments will be the ones to contact you.

Maintenance is NOT part of Park Operations. It is it's own division.

From what I have gathered the departments I listed are those that are reviewing me but my question is what jobs are they reviewing me for ?

I applied yesterday.

I checked "I will accept any job offer" so I am assuming that means they will forward my application to the head of each department. When should I expect an interview and any advice for a job interview (and any potential follow up interviews?)? (I am in PA so I will probably end out doing a skype interview)

Also, how hard is it to get a job as a coaster crew? Do they let you pick? I would really love to be a ride attendant/safety check on Maverick.

Thanks for your help!

The best advice I can give for interviews is to be confident and honest, don't make things up that you think would sound better for the job. As a first year, you do not get a choice of what ride you work. You'll be asked questions like if you like working with kids or adults, and if you prefer a fast or slow paced environment, and your manager will place you at a location based on your answers to those questions.

I received an email from Shaun Hill of ride department asking for dates and times. Do you know what sort of things I can expect to be asked?

Availability, do you have a preferance to work in an environment with children or adults (in other words, do you mind working on children or adult rides), can you handle watching objects spinning or traveling at high speeds, bending over, grooming guidelines, all that stuff.

Congratulations by the way. Shaun is really laid back and chill. He is the manager of Area 2, and that covers the following rides:

Valravn, Power Tower, Corkscrew/Super Himalaya, Iron Dragon, Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, Rougarou, Scrambler/Matterhorn, and possibly Windseeker (I believe that is Area 1 again).

Thanks TwistedWicker77! Sounds like I should be able to do fine. Either ride works for me (but I would love doing Maverick, shame that is not on the list). If I get hired, I really hope to do Millennium Force (Though any of them would be fun). I hope to be at Cedar Point this summer!

One thing to remember if you do get hired, don't be discouraged if you don't get a big ride cause it's the crew that'll make your summer, not the ride. Throughout this past season I worked a variety of rides (2 large coasters, a water ride, a childrens area and 3 large flats) and it really is the people you spend your time with that will be the memories that last.

For me the process was very quick. Everything was completed within a week and three days of applying. Nothing to stress though if it takes longer. It's a very simple and guided process.

Supposedly I will be getting a phone call this Friday. I missed one this evening and monday afternoon due to studying. I am not sure what to expect on knowing whether or not I got the job (I mean knowing it at the end of the interview, or at least soon after), but I really hope I get this position! Wish me luck!

If the process for first years goes like it did last year, if you do well enough on the phone interview you will proceed to a skype interview with your manager, which will then determine if you're hired.

MagmMForce247 were you already hired for this season?

I told both my auntie & my friend to apply. They applied for ride operator & house keeping they both applied a week after me but both of them already got calls and Skype interviews. But mines still says it needs to be reviewed by hiring managers. I'm really concerned right now.

It doesn't matter what order you applied in. I reapplied the day applications came out (and this is my 4th year) and haven't received my call yet either. Leadership calls haven't even went out yet. Apparently first year applicants don't stay in the system as long as returners. Don't worry. Just keep checking your email, and if a number with a 419 area code calls, that's them.
