Skyhawk VS. MaxAir......NO CONTEST

Maxair is a much better ride. Here's my reasons:

1. Longer, Skyhawk is over just as it's getting good, Maxair keeps on going....and going...........

2. Air, as the ride goes up with the spinning effect, I feel you get more air time.

3. Loading, you can't get a slower load time than Skyhawk. The clip is a joke and the arms up, push down, arms up is ponderous...

Bottom line the best swinging ride at CP is Maxair....period!!!!!!

I rode maXair yesterday, and while I knew they had lengthened the ride time, it seemed to go on forever! I loved it! :)

And maxair is a more comfortable ride than skyhawk to, i found the seats very uncomfortable on skyhawk almost being cramped in.

While I do like the longer ride cycle of maXair, I certainly wouldn't call it "no contest." After one ride, I was unimpressed by Skyhawk, but after several rides it grew on me...fast! My friends and I all agreed by the end of the day that we prefered Skyhawk to maXair. I think the biggest reason is the free feeling of the restraints, the power of the acceleration, and the awesome airtime on the 2 highest swings.

If Skyhawk extends their cycle by two more swings and decreases the load/unload times, I actually think it will be Skyhawk... NO CONTEST....

Three more:)

I would have to agree. Skyhawk is fun, but its all over before you really get to enjoy it! But I'm hoping it will grow on me eventually.

Magnum still rocks.

Increasing the ride cycle by two or three swings would definitely be worth it. The extra swings would only add what...20-30 seconds, at the most, to the total ride time? These extra few swings could really make a difference in the general public's view of the ride.

My beef with Skyhawk, aside from the couple "full" swings, is the seating. I was surprised to not only sink -almost fall- down into the seat, but then to have my back pressed up as straight as it was.

A low butt is not prime riding location, imo.

Agreed Grovite... but a "high butt" on Skyhawk may not be quite as secure... Even with the sunk in seats, if I positioned my body correctly, I got more airtime than I would care to have... It was great fun though

Quick question....How come skyhawk is so SLOW....is that how the rest of the swings are, or is it just like that at CP?..Ive never been on Skyhawk..

What exactly do you mean by slow?

Do you mean to get started? If so, yes, all swing ride types are like that. The smaller version at KW takes just as long to get up and going.

If you mean swing speed...i'm sure that has to do with g-forces.

I was there this last weekend and I must say, I love Skyhawk. Is it too short? Yes, but realistically, what ride isn't?

As to the difference between Skyhawk and maXair I'd prefer Skyhawk. Just having that lap restraint verses an OTSR makes it that much more interesting and thrilling. Now if maXair were to get just Lap bars then that would be a no brainer, but it doesn't.

Nevertheless, on May 20th and 21st, Skyhawk became my new favorite non-rollercoaster ride at the park.

I really like Skyhawk, but it really does run too short, some of my ride op friends have said that they might lengthen the ride cycle eventually, but I wouldn't hold my breath. That being said the seats are WAY uncomfortable when sitting upright, but at least it dosent OTSRs to smash my head on, which is also the only reason that dragster is better than kingda ka, oh and that its running.

Skyhawk is a great ride, but before they go and make the ride cycle any longer, they need to work on their loading times, or their lines will be hell.

For me Skyhawk is all about the restrants...the restrants on Skyhawk make the ride great...during the full swings it appears that there is nothing between you and the ground below you...I will agree that the longer ride times on maXair makes that ride great...but just think how great it would be with the same restrants as Skyhawk.

I've heard (from one of the ones coming in) that later in the season they're going to increase the workforce on SkyHawk. The guy I know is processing in around June 12th-ish, so basically once the college students etc start getting out of school they'll be better.

Although I can't say I like the clip, it seems temporary to me. Maybe something better is coming.

Yes, MaXair is longer, but it's REALLY boring with the exception of the highest point. SkyHawk's launch is great, and the braking is hard enough that you feel kind of a force too (not to mention the high point). I feel that SkyHawk is more of an all-around awesome ride, but MaXair can still put in a contest in terms of its highest point.

(Obviously my choice is SkyHawk)

The one thing that I'm really disappointed with is the location. It's reeally packed out of the way. In our weekend trip two weeks ago, we only made it back to that part of the park two or three times (one of which was specifically for SH). MaXair has the benefit of being in a very well-traveled part of the park, so people are more likely to just see it and say "hey what about a ride." It seems to me like pretty much the only way you're getting in the SkyHawk area is if you go there specifically.

P.S. long posts are cool :)

people keep saying that the ride needs to be longer... and that is the only reason you dont like it... but if you wish you were on it longer dosent that mean that you must like it. i mean why would want to be on a ride you didnt like for a longer time?

Well you olny get one FULL swing on Skyhawk. *** Edited 5/22/2006 8:36:38 PM UTC by CoasterMan23***

The ride is great, that's not the point. The point is that the ride would be far, far better if you got two or three more swings. The people who say they don't like it because it's too short probably actually mean that that's the main weak point of the ride, not that they actually dislike the ride. (I don't mean to put words into other peoples' mouths here, if I'm off please speak up.) Make the ride longer and shorten up the load times and you'll go from a good ride to an amazing ride.

Example: I like Skyhawk. However, I'm not going to wait too long to ride it at this point. Give me two or three more good swings on it and cut the load times by a minute or two, and I'll wait far, far longer.
