Skyhawk VS. MaxAir......NO CONTEST

Quick question....How come skyhawk is so SLOW....is that how the rest of the swings are, or is it just like that at CP?..Ive never been on Skyhawk..

thanks *** Edited 5/22/2006 6:23:01 AM UTC by Ryan L***

Sorry, what I meant was why is it so Short?... Everyone talks about how short the ride is. Will they make it last longer

I'm sure by mid-June or July the load times will be better. Give the crew time to get familiar with everything and almost down to automatic.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Well if you look at the videos at cedarpoint.com of skyhawk it seems as if there were more full swings on media day then regular operation. *** Edited 5/22/2006 8:59:44 PM UTC by CoasterMan23***

I just went to the park on May 19th and I rode Sky Hawk twice.

I would have to say"Wow" what an experience. It is a great ride, but like everyone else says...."It is too short", long load time, down right loud when standing on the numbers waiting to get on the ride.

Other than that, everything else is great.

i dont mean to sound deffensive... my post was mainly to my friends who said the ride sucked and they hated it but they wanted it to be longer. sry if it felt like i was attacking...

I prefer the sirtime and restraints on SkyHawk, but the length of maXair.

The seats on Skyhawk were really uncomfortable. But the ride is awesome. A longer cycle would be even better, but the ride is fantastic as it is.

The noise from the compression/decompression of those cylinders is a little loud, particularly if you are standing right next to the ride.

But I loved it! Much better than MaxAir.

I think that CedarPoint needs to increase the ride time and decrease the loading time on Skyhawk. *** Edited 5/23/2006 1:49:21 AM UTC by CoasterMan23***

havent been to cp this year yet, but why is the load time so long as everyone has complained about? what takes so long?

Because it takes 4 minutes to get locked into your seat thhen 3 different people com around to check your lapbars, and the fact that the ride is shorter than the actual loading time. *** Edited 5/23/2006 2:11:47 AM UTC by CoasterMan23***

Like has been said several times, the load time will get better. I'm sure this is something the park wants to correct before the season gets into full swing. ;)

Once the load time is reduced a bit, they can add the saved time to the ride cycle. I'd guess each swing (from peak-to-peak) takes about 5 seconds. So, if they can reduce load time by 1 minute, they can add another full swing (that is, two more swings to its peak height), and they'd still shorten the full cycle time by 50 seconds.

And while the load times were pretty substantial, I noticed that they handled things pretty well on Saturday (which was probably one of the busiest days those op's have seen), which is a very good sign. Give these folks a little time to get things just right.

As for a comparison between Maxair & Skyhawk, I'd have to tip my hat to SH. I'm susceptible to spinning-induced nausea, which takes Maxair right out of the equation for me. I sure wish that I could ride it, as it looks like an absolute blast, but it would ruin my day, I'm sure. I'm willing to bet there are a lot of people like myself who have to stay away from spinning rides, and for us Skyhawk is quite a gift. The ride gives incredible airtime, spectacular visuals and is just an absolute great time.

They are each good in their own way! MaxAir has the spinning which makes it a very interesting pov each time you swing but Skyhawk has some wicked air time as well as short is it is! I loved them both! the last time I was in the park was 2004 so it was a first time for both rides! I am finding that maxair is more popular but i think that really does have to do with location. It is a fair distance to skyhawk but once that new coaster is there you wont even notice the distance!!!

Distance to Get there = 500 miles
Waiting in line for seasons pass = 20 minutes
Being reunited with Wicked twister = Priceless!!!

No you don't. You get two full swings now. They made the ride a couple of seconds longer after the breakdown opening weekend.

^ Oh well when I went on Mothers Day it olny had one FULL swing.

I like Skyhawk a lot better, it's my favourite thrill ride.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record, but the ride time does need to be longer. As someone mentioned earlier my first ride did not impress me as much either (I've rode 5 times now), but each ride on it seems to get better and better, so if you have only rode once hopefully your next rides will be even better. :)

Arms down, head back, and hold on.....

I say that they will lengthen the amount of cycles that SkyHaw does in the future. Its short no to get people through quickylt since it is nes... Id reallly like 4+ Cycles at Full Speed and height, that would be nice! But for right Now, maXair takes the cake.

I'll take MaxAir over Skyhawk anyday. Make Skyhawk longer and somehow shorten the loading time...then it's a little different.

The ride is great, that's not the point. The point is that the ride would be far, far better if you got two or three more swings. The people who say they don't like it because it's too short probably actually mean that that's the main weak point of the ride, not that they actually dislike the ride. (I don't mean to put words into other peoples' mouths here, if I'm off please speak up.) Make the ride longer and shorten up the load times and you'll go from a good ride to an amazing ride.

Example: I like Skyhawk. However, I'm not going to wait too long to ride it at this point. Give me two or three more good swings on it and cut the load times by a minute or two, and I'll wait far, far longer.

That's exactly what I mean. Don't get me wrong, I love Skyhawk, but right now it doesn't compare to Maxair. Add more swings, shorten the load time and yes, it will be as good as Maxair.

I like maXair better.
