WWC?... do you mean Thunder Canyon?

Is there any activity in the bone yard? This could lead to some layout on the MF island to weave in and out of MF. Just a thought.

amazing aerials.

I agree with water being involved. I'm also picturing this new coaster weaving in and out, up and down, and around a mountian.....

A mountain sure would close up the view of the outside of the park from that bridge inbetween Snake River Falls and the footer pond. ;) It's doubtful, but who knows? Maybe they started this early so they can get the massive theming done before next year.

A Launch coaster would make sense, considering that Cedar Point doesnt really have the room for a huge launch hill, however, I think that another launched coaster if done right could be amazing.

I am now thinking this is a launched coaster...anyone who has rode Storm Runner at Hershey knows how awsome they can be, even on a smaller scale. Now imagine Storm Runner, but twice the length. This could be a world class ride without breaking any records.

more footers are on the way.

  • they have loads of time left.
  • there might be supports and track going over the pathways, but you just can't start digging for footers yet, because the park is still open.
  • im sure the ride won't be that short, after the past two being pretty short, i think they'll go for one a little more like millenium

more track is to come, we just have to wait. and the anouncement is coming in late august, not that long of a wait. hold on.

I have heard a few rumors from employees (you can't always trust their rumors) and people on the red cross rider day for Skyhawk talking about 2007. They said that "Maverick" will be 540' and intertwine with millennium on MF island... it could happen... unlikly but it is cedar point and Kinzel is retiring...

I agree, since there is so much time left, clearly we are connecting the dots early. Maybe two early?

1) If the station is where we predict, will the que be in the middle of the ride?

2) If the lift is going to use the "trenched footers", where will the drop be? And more importantly, were will the lift or launch be - the distance from the station to the trench doesn't appear long enough to generate much speed unless it will go immediately into a banked turn like RoS and/or Rita.

3) And finally, why announce in August (so early)?

August can't come quick enough, given all the unaswered questions.

Maybe it's just me, but the first thing I saw when I looked at the ariel pics was dueling/racing coaster. I hope I'm wrong though! And I'm going to go completely against what MrScott is saying and say that besides the portion over the pond, no water will be involved with this ride. And I don't think there will be any launches. But it's just me...and if you knew me you'd know that I am completely clueless!

Looking at all those pics of track, I'm becoming convinced that those are for loops.

I'm starting to think the "whole new direction" thing refers to length versus height. No height record, but maybe the world's longest coaster, especially if it ends up extending out where the caddy cars are now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff's comment from way back (something to the effect of "we'll all be happy campers") might be explained by 2 new additions for 07- megalooper and a new water ride. Those that want a new coaster will be happy, those that want a new family ride will be happy. That would also be consistent with the early start of construction.

I highly doubt that CP would take this roller coaster up and over paths, weaving between Snake river falls and on the MF island. I think they are starting this early because this is a proto type ride that will require a lot of test.

I remember when that paramount park in california built Stealth, the first flying coaster, it required a lot of test during the season.

I doubt it will be a prototype, especially an Intamin prototype, after TTD, unless the only thing prototypical about it is unrelated to major systems and structural components. I strongly believe we will see a proven lift/propulsion system, proven track design, and ride vehicles with nothing radically new.

At least now we can understna d the "serious sidewindin" just from seein this piece of track. It might just be the angle, but that looks like a rather small piece, so this twist will happen pretty quickly! haha

By looking at the aerial photos, is that as large as the coaster is going to be? Seems to me to not be a record setter in the small area where the footers are placed. Are there footers located in other areas of the park where this coaster may extend to?

...But that's not possible. Zero-G rolls are always 2-railed track. :-D

(sarcasm, by the way)

It's the angle. It is a regular piece of track in length and it only twists 90 degrees if you look at the darker red stripes where the wheels will ride.

I'm thinking that, ESPECIALLY if the Antique Cars will be removed, that there are other attractions they are planning to move or otherwise remove from their current spots, and the early arrival of track and pouring of footers is so they can complete work in the area we see opened up now. They can continue to work over the off-season in the areas that they cannot really open up right now (because of rides and people getting their last time there, like with WWL) and just attach it all together, so to speak.

I just think that the Antique Cars will stay but they will be like what the Turpike Cars did when the Raptor was made in 1994, and I think the Wave Swinger & the Haunted House will be Removed.

Remove Wave Swinger?... I doubt it... Relocated?... possible...

I still think Wave Swinger should be built out over water like at Indiana Beach...
