Looks like vertical construction is coming soon...

I wonder how much will be in place before the announcement...

Are they done with footers? It kind of looks like they are...

They must be awfully close. Looks like that information I got out of my "guy" a couple weeks ago is tracking correctly. He said their schedule had been to finish with the footers by the end of June, but now they were hoping to be done by the end of July. Looks like they making back up for lost time. Cool.

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

If they really are done... does it really look like there's enough footers to make for that long of a ride...? Hopefully there's more to come.

I saw those at the site today taking my kids to Soak City. I thought I'd actually be able to provide a scoop, but Walt once again sees all and knows all. ;)

Who knows if they are done with footers, but I think it's unlikely, especially if they are removing more rides later in the year. It certainly does appear to be going verticle, which is GREAT, but it's July? Something is a foot at CP for 2007 - maybe it's just giving enough time for testing? It is exciting, interesting, and confusing. Small space, HUGE footers, early construction and possible very early start for going verticle.

Thank god August is next month.

Getting Excited

Two things to point out...

First, In the first picture in the top left corner is one of the most bizarre supports I have ever seen.

Second, I think an announcement in August is due to them possible removing/shutting down a ride for the remainder of the season and then moving construction to that area.

Hey good stuff Walt, stinks I missed ya. I was there 7-7 to 7-9. Got some pics, if any one wants them let me know. Some are decent. They are mostly of the breakers express area.

I did ( i think ) however see Magnum candy man.

Well this diffently might be the earliest we've seen vertical construction start on a ride ever at CP.

It's very strange how the ride's foundations are either almost done or are progressing very far and we still have very little clues on what this ride will even do. We still know just about as much as we did on Opening Day (Intamin, red, white, and...well...that's about all we can confirm).

I am fairly confident that UR Dade will no longer be a Halloweekends attractions after this year, if it is still there this year, and Wave swinger will be moved. The markings along the midway from Los Gatos to the train station that I saw on opening day are where the wall is now, and there are more of those along Wave Swinger and UR Dade. I think the footers for this ride will be extending outside of the current site after hearing some things and seeing some things for myself.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Thanks for the update Walt.

Yeah, i'm new to this site, but I have been keeping up with the progress of project 2007....I'll have to admit, i've become quite addicted to this forum. I have two theories, here they go. 1. These are just the footers for the beginning of the ride, come late August Mean Streak is closed, then demolished to make way for the second half of this ride. OR, 2. This coaster is some sort of STRADDLE coaster, where you ride on top of the cars (like a horse).....I hate to think it might be #2. But I would not mind seeing MS torn down, it never lived up to its hype. Allright guys, tear me up now, but these are just some of my thoughts on the subject.

I was wondering. Its probably for the lighting or something, but the footers by the pond (Across from SRF) have wires sticking out of them. Any ideas, or is it for lighting?

Tear down Mean Streak!? ::tear::

Ryan, they might be for sensors. *** Edited 7/10/2006 2:21:59 AM UTC by DBCP***

Wow DJ what a post - lol. You had me in the beginning, but I think we are seeing the area of the first drop and the end of the ride. I don't think it will go towards MS, but I do like the thought. I do think it will expand into those other rides. It won't straddle, but it very well could be the new Inatamin prototype (hopefully). But as was stated earlier, all we know is the colors of the Intamin coaster CP is getting.

We also know that it is a looper that somehow will have water involved.

101 on Magnum and counting...

hey, one can dream can't he? Imagine all the space that would free up if they did tear that thing down. I love wooden coasters, and i don't HATE mean streak, but there are better woodies out there. WAY TOO MUCH braking on this one for my tastes. Off the subject sorta, but has anyone ridden the VOYAGE at Holiday World? That thing is phenominal. Better than the beast....check it out one day.

We don't "know" it will be a looper, but we do know a portion of it will be over water. Like you, I strongly suspect it will have at least a few loops. I don't think it will break the record at 15, but would like to see it be the world's longest (different direction).

I also agree MS is a total waste of space and needs to be reworked. The ride looked good on paper, but blows when it's riden.
