Update: July 9

thanks for the help dbcp. Also, i know this shouldnt go here and I dont wanna fill this post with un needed things, but doesnt it look like there will be a long straight section, I see this due to the footer placements.

Walt, question. Do you have some sort of badge or something that allows you to get behind the construction walls? I'm assuming you do (I hear you have close ties with the park). Some of these pictures are really good.

Thanks for the update.

Those pictures are taken from the train.

Yeah, i'm new to this site, but I have been keeping up with the progress of project 2007....I'll have to admit, i've become quite addicted to this forum. I have two theories, here they go. 1. These are just the footers for the beginning of the ride, come late August Mean Streak is closed, then demolished to make way for the second half of this ride. OR, 2. This coaster is some sort of STRADDLE coaster, where you ride on top of the cars (like a horse).....I hate to think it might be #2. But I would not mind seeing MS torn down, it never lived up to its hype. Allright guys, tear me up now, but these are just some of my thoughts on the subject.

I don't know why everyone complains so much about Mean Streak. I know it's a little rough, but I still think it's a really fun ride. You want rough, try Son of Beast. Anyway, I don't see CP tearing it down. I would think they want to add to their coaster total, not remain the same by removing one. Just my opinion.

Taking down one of the largest coaster structures ever built takes a little while. That right there shows that that will nothing will happen to MS.

Well then we can pray for lightning - lol

Lightning is cool when you are less then 500 ft of Mean Streak. 2004 was most coolest thing I ever seen in my life, Mean Streak's Lift gets hit by Lightning. It fried the control pannel and it was down for a few days.

Anywho, Walt thanks for the update on this great day. As I turned "old" today 7-9-2006, cant get any better then the supports on site.

How do you know?
I never saw anything about when this "ride" comes out. All we know is it could not come out for 3 years.

OK Ok CP is known to be the roller coaster captial of the world with having the most coasters right? with having 16 at this point. and 17 in 2007. I have a few friends in maint. dep. he told me at one time that CP whants to have 20 by 2010. So why would they tear down a coaster makeing them have one less. I can almost promise you MS is not going any where.

Yeah, Mean Streak getting hit by lightning wasn't cool at all. I was next to Woodstock Express at the time. That was loud, and very not cool.

BTW Walt, I've been wondering.. What the heck is the explanation/whatever for "Who's up for a big bowl of nonfat ice milk?"?

20 by 2010 TC? Well, that means 4 years worth of coasters... in a row.

I´m looking forward to seeing the trains. I think they will be somewhat unique - just like this coaster will be.

I was in the station of Mean Streak when it got struck, not sure if it was the same storm or not, all I know is that this storm came in with a fury, we were going to be the next train to depart, thank God we weren't...it was storming and raining so hard, the rough ride, the storm, and the pelting rain would have been pure hell. I felt bad for the train that had just departed. We didnt stick around for it to reopen...it didnt seem like it was going to reopen anytime soon so we bolted to the parking lot...

Mean Streak will not be torn down... its a classic IMO, a lot of people complain but its a good ol woodie. :)

How did Mean Streak get into this topic?

Each photo was taken from a public area. There's nothing behind-the-scenes in this update.

Cool. Thanks for the update. So, are there any supports left at the staging area or only track?

cyberdman

can anyone confirm if these supports were moved from the staging area or shipped directly to the job site?

from past construction, they start putting track on before all the supports are done, right? if so, that's going to be wicked cool. i'm going near the middle of august, and i'm sure by then track will be up. :)

Well Im sure the supports that are in now are for a specific area. I dont think they would bring in just any support. And it's easy to tell that these supports are from the staging area.

Wrong. SFMM has 17

That's why in OnPoint! it mentioned over and over "Project 2007". If my math is still good, that's next year.
