What CedarPoint is lacking the most....

CP is NOT going to tear down one of their coasters, they have to keep up with the caoster race.

You are probably right. But is it for the best? I hope CP doesn't get too focused on quantity instead of quality...because I don't know too many people who consider Disaster Transport to be a quality ride.

i'm the product of a summer romance: my parents met at cp in '75!

Speak for yourself...my girls LOVE DT. Just because you don't see your life passing before your eyes doesn't make it poor quality.
The only thing DT is good for now a days is the AC! lol.

Bring back the pirate ride!

Erie: The only great lake you can walk from end to end and only get oil on your shoes!

I love the idea about the Land of the Giants, those all seem like great rides and I don't think Cedar Point has that many thrill rides that aren't roller coasters, besides Power Tower going down and Power Tower going up. But I would like to see it on Millenium Island, Giants among Giants, have them work around the silver and blue giant and have a bridge on both sides of the island. Move that storage area somewhere off of the peninsula, it doesn't look like any of those items are going to be useful anytime soon anyway. That way, there will be another path to get from Gemini Midway to Fronteir Trail.

But as for coasters, don't tear any of them down. They not only need the coaster count but all of the ones that were mentioned are kind of an advantage for Cedar Point. Corkscrew is a transition ride for all new thrill seekers besides that fact that people love to sit under it and eat the boardwalk fries and lemonade chills. It is just a gorgeous landscape piece even if it was not in operation.

And there is no way Cedar Point can tear down Disaster Transport in my mind, For the past two times that I went to Cedar Point, the line was at the door. Why tear down a ride that currently exists that has alot of people who want to ride it when there is so much room already in the park. Remember in 1999 when we were all on messageboards all over the internet talking about how it was impossible for Cedar Point to build a 300 foot rollercoaster? Not only did people say it wasn't possible to build one that high because it would go to fast (lol, now that I think about Dragster) but they also said that there wasn't going to be room for a coaster of that magnitude. But where did they build it? In one of the "narrowest" areas of the park, to the left of Mantis. So keep what they have now, if not move them around and adjust for more rides.

Life has it's ups and downs, might as well make it on a coaster!

what the hell does everyone have against demon drop. i loved that ride. i rode with two girls and i think i screamed louder than them. that ride is such a rush. dont tear it dow!! there is plenty of room in the park for it. i think they shouldnt make a woodie, cp is best at steel. make not the tallest and fasted but maybe like a floorless or a flyer, i would want a flyer most of all.

------------------
Cedar Point, The Roller Coast!!

I have to say a floorless would be nice, but I really want to try out a flying coaster, and over the water by millenium island would be the greatest thing ever! Like they could make a tunnel that goes under water and you go through it and there would be windows on the side, and you could see under the water but you will be in a tunnel. that would be so tight! It would like this for people who don't get it. O = tunnel entrance/exit _ = water = = tunnel

A flying coaster is a must for CP. There is a very small amout of flying coasters in the world, and I would love to ride one.

A dark ride for gods sake.......................and some more flat rides.
I agree lpth5, dont take out Demon Drop! first of all, its still a scary ride, and secon dof all it takes up such a small area of the park, what else would you be able to put in there? I wouldnt want CP to build a flier, i think that their novelty is kinda wearing out anyways. I want a floorles b/c you can do so much with them. Loops, Corkscrews, and all those sweet B&M Inversions. We need more than 13 inversions at Cedar point!
Not sure if anyone has said anything resembling this, but I have an idea for how they could upgrade one of their existing rides and make it much more fun. The layout of Mantis is quite good and it is very smooth. The issue I have is with standup coasters; I think that whole paradigm is a gimmick. It doesn't really add anything to the ride (other than a serious pain in your crotch if you happen to get a sadistic ride op). If I were CP I would get rid of the standup trains and change the ride into a floorless coaster. I think this would make the ride much more thrilling and entertaining at a minimum of cost to CP. I admit, however that I am no mechanical engineer or physicist so I can't know for sure that it is plausible. Anyone have thoughts about this?
tim4pele...... THAT IS BRILLIANT!!!!! I agree with you 100%! Stand up coasters bring no extra thrill except the fact that you are semi-standing. It hurts more than that it's fun. If they were to change the trains that would be GREAT!!! hopefully that is possible... I can imagine mantis being a floorless... it would be so nice!!!!

Oh jeez, long story made short:

Floorless trains would not work on Mantis because the track gauge isn't quite the same, it would require a train modification. Also, Mantis is designed so the center of gravity for the rider is his or her heartline-if floorless trains were put on it wouldn't match up. I would like to try floorless on Mantis, but it is probably not going to happen.

I'm sure if you search you can find a couple threads with way more detailed explanations.
