announcement date 8/18/15

He's almost certainly blowing smoke, that's what he usually does.. no facts, just speculation presented as fact. He throws poop against the wall and hopes it sticks. It's sad really...

I just don't think it's worth the risk- if the park wants to take the risk- more power to them, To me the safer bet is to just come up with another name.

I think a name change is why they are waiting. Why else? Raptor opened the next day, and there really is no logical reason why they would push the date back other than a name change.

Because someone died in their park in horrific fashion, and they're like super busy dealing with that now.

But I do get it, I'm just saying that the only "source" saying that it is being dropped is not a source at all (he's making that up), so really it's just us debating whether or not they should.

Which is fine. We can talk about that. :)

What's the likelihood of them just using one of the trademarks they already have in their back pocket?

*cough*

*cough*

I think it still goes fine at the park, especially if the supports are the same dark blue as featured on the logo?... Of course the logo could totally be revamped until then, but just an idea.

But if they did file for a new trademark, we should probably expect it last minute like Gatekeeper I'm assuming. Might help prevent leaking to the bigger media. They filed for Valravn so much in advance it's been all over the news, and there would have been no excitement/surprised when it was finally revealed.

Wasn't this the same kid that said that Intimidator/Intimidator 305 would have a name change because the licenses are expiring?

Has that been proven false? I thought it was still a big possibility, not because of him though. If it isn't happening, I would like to know why they had all Intimidator and I305 merchandise was on sale.

2018- Raptor

CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor

In my opinion, I think Cedar Point will wait a couple weeks for this to all blow over. When I say blow over, I mean the news/media has let it go after 2 weeks time. I'm thinking they'll keep the name too! My guess is they'll wait until after Labor Day when school is back in session. That way everyone who is a college/high school student has their heads in the books and isn't thinking one thought about Cedar Point.

Wait. So one minute you say that the media is over the story and people have moved on--- then the next you say the park is super busy dealing with it. What have they done besides release a statement and reopen the ride. I still say the announcement would be on if the name was less controversial.

How about the "Stay out of restricted areas and you'd be alive" dive coaster...

I'm getting really tired of the entire we must all sacrifice for those who make bad decisions mindset in this country, and it needs to stop.

That comes from the litigious new world for failure to accept personal responsibility.

But......MERICA!

Being impatient about a ride announcement is sort of like a driver racing toward a stop light. Whether they announce the ride today or 6 weeks from now, no one is going to be able to ride it until it opens. This idea that somehow we're being made to suffer or having to sacrifice for someone else's actions is overly dramatic.

I completely agree with you 100%! So many times we stop doing the things we do here in this country because something happened or someone was offended by something. Amen Brother!

I don't know, but when something like this happens I highly doubt the only thing they have to deal with is calls from the media.

What I'm saying is that for a select group of people, a large chunk of their time was probably dedicated to making sure everything was in place for the 18th, and when this happened that time was suddenly ripped away from them and they could no longer guarantee having the announcement set like they would have liked.

"Guest getting killed" was probably not worked into the schedule, and it forced a huge amount of resources to get sucked into dealing with it when they were needed elsewhere.

Think about it. You have Halloweekends right around the corner. A huge announcement coming up. Something has to give.

It is not a sacrifice to wait for the ride announcement. It is a sacrifice when we will have to pay for Cedar Point to install more signs, build taller fences, and we will bear the costs when they pay more for insurance. When the government has to mandate that tamper resistant electrical outlets be installed in all homes we sacrifice for the bad decisions, or lack of parenting abilities of the few. When a company has to print warning labels on their products telling people not to inhale spray paint, or drink bleach, we all pay for the bad decisions of the few. The list goes on and on...

I feel bad for this guys family, I feel bad that it happened and I wish it never did. But the fact remains that it did happen, and it happened because one person made a conscious decision to break the rules and be where he wasn't supposed to be. This needs to be over with, CP needs to move on, no moments of silence, no memorials, no name changes to appease those easily offended. This was not a tragic accident, this was someone making a thought out decision to break the rules and do what he knew he should not be doing.

Or, just perhaps, this needs to be whatever CP decides it needs to be, for whatever manifold reasons they choose.

Of course CP will do what they feel they need to do, and a big part of the decision they make will be driven by the lack of responsibility for ones actions that we have today in this country. Another large part of that will also come from the fear of offending someone, which is getting ridiculously out of hand these days. Someone will always be offended and so be it, once they are catered to where does it ever end?

I'll tell you where it ends. Human sacrifice. Cats and dogs living together. Mass hysteria!

^ So, Keymaster for the new name?

I never cared for the name Valravn. I'd like to see a Dive Coaster named Cliffhanger. Lots of theming possibilities.
