2007 - B&M Coaster - Wild Rumor - (10/25/05) I’ve heard a few more whispers about what may be going on with the White Water Landing flume site, and they all seem to tie in to the first rumor we had about this back in 2004. They claim that the site will be used for the park’s next big coaster, which is pretty much locked in as being from B&M. The twist is where things get wild, and after being burned for the height / speed record by Kingda Ka is such a short amount of time, they may skip past 500 and go for something 600 feet tall. Okay... sure, that sounds like the Whopper of the Week at first, but then again everyone thought I was crazy back in 2002 when I broke the story about Dragster breaking 400 feet. Add in that 2007 is Kinsel’s last year and the rumors about wanting to go out with a bang, and it’s not quite so crazy. The last piece of the puzzle is the adding of B&M to the project... something that my source says took some doing to get them to rise to the challenge. That and a possible multi-year / multi-ride contract for the Cedar Fair chain. Ahhh.... lets see: Silver Bullet, Hydra, Patriot... yes, there certainly has been quite a few B&M coasters being added to Cedar Fair parks lately. Maybe it’s all just crazy talk, but you never know just what Cedar Point is up to.

Wow! that sure is a wild rumor.....infact, it's so wild it's scary!!:) At least he puts down how crazy it sounds.....which it DOES!!!

P.S. Although I didnt notice it untill now, 2000th reply!

but then he goes ahead and tries to justify how it "could" happen..

I want to cry.

Well the last part of that seemed really logical and realistic to happen where he is talking about B&Ms coming to Cedar Point. I think the talk about 500 ft is just silly.

I still have a hard time believing that we're not gonna have a new coaster next year. Yeah, I know evidence points to 2007 being the big year, but it seems like CP is making a lot of hype about whatever is coming next year. It wouldn't be like CP to drum up a lot of excitement for something not worth getting really excited about. And they probably won't announce 2007's stuff until next off-season.

But it is true, as screamscape said, that you never do know what CP is up to.....

Anxiously awaiting THE announcement!

I really don't see CP making a lot of hype. Sure you see it on the message boards, but other than that, where is the hype?

cpbred, Why wouldn't they hype something other then coasters? There are those people out there that.... *gasps*, don't go to the park to ride the rides. Just because some people may think that if it's not something like a new ride, then why would they hype it. If it was a new shop or food station they are building people are going to go to it and spend money/have a look and see what it's about. That is what CP is going for, to get people to the park, and yes a coaster would more then likely bring more people, but there are other people out there then just us coaster riders.

Well....I'll tell ya'....I spend TONS of money there and STILL ride the rides. And CP did a great job of advertising the removal of WWL...just in time for the end of the season and to draw more people in for the last weekends. It worked on me! I'll be there to get the last ride on a ride I never cared about to begin with. Don't ask me why...CF's marketing I guess. (And...uhhh...because it seemed lika a good excuse to get there for the last time this season).

I'll be there, too - and I will ride it, even though I haven't in years. Strange, huh?

I just found an excellent page on this web site. It gives some good insight. It is a 2000 interview with Kinzel. http://www.pointbuzz.com/kinzel.htm

I don't feel like reading all that, thats too long. I have a question though? How much does anyone want to bet that the line for White Water Landing will have a hughe line this weekend? I'm not really betting I"m just saying that in terms.

Most people won't even know about WWL's removal, nor care. Sunday night, the ride will be seeing the die heart fans in line for sure. Other than that, I'd doubt it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that with all the teases with Tony and Tyler about the plans for next year, it just seems to me that there should be something major. Of course there doesn't have to be ... that's just the coaster freak in me! :-P I realize there are a lot of people who would love a new ride other than a coaster. I like anything new, personally! And of course CP wants to generate interest, no matter what's going on, so yeah, we'll just have to wait and see!

As for WWL, I would love to have that last ride. I know this sounds corny, but I would have enjoyed my rides on it this summer even more if I would have known they would be my last! I really didn't realize how much I liked that ride until they announced that it's not going to be there anymore. If I could make it to CP for this last weekend, I would definitely be in that WWL line!

R.I.P. White Water Landing!

Yeah I feel bad I never got a chance to ride that this summer. My last time riding that was Halloweekends of 2004. It was cold and rainy but we didn't care, we rode anyway. Don't worry dude. If something doesn't go in WWL spot in 06, then it's for 2007 that something going in there. I expect to walk by there next year and see a wall put up. Whatever goes in there will be a hugh addition for Cedar Point. And I don't mean 500 ft.

I sure do!

My last ride was kind of funny. It was towards the end of the day and we(my sis and her boyfriend) figured we would hit Magnum, Dragster and then leave. We just got off Mean Streak and gave WWL a whirl. Then we went on Magnum and then got in line for Dragster. We were 5 minutes from the gold train when it started to rain really heavily. All I could say on the way home was "If we didnt get on WWL, we would of gotten on Dragster!". Although I'm now happy that I was able to get one last ride.:)

Yeah, but if you didn't get on Magnum, you would have gotten on Dragster. ;)

How did you hit Dragster? It's closed for the rest of the season?

Because maybe he rode it before it was closed for the season. wink.

Yeah, it was back in August.
