I hope so too. I am sure there will be clues coming in time!!!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

The webcam shows the outter wall to the pre-show seating is mostly down.

I was hoping to see a wrecking ball or dynamite. Maybe they will later.

Well it's look like they're atleast going to be doing something with Luminosity or the area around it. I know they take the bleachers down every year but I doubt they take the fence down as well, as you can see in Tony's post.

That's reading into things. It's a lot easier to do everything without fences in the way. They go up and down all over the park in the off-season.

Actually that exact section of fence is removed every year. It's actually not a fence, that is where the bleachers sit and the bleachers fill that section. So wen they are removed there is a large opening in the fence line.

As Jeff said It makes it much easier to work in that section, moving things in and out.

What I'm watching for are people putting new footers in for the control booth tower. But then I doubt we see much difference until season 146.

i just thought they were just gutting it for a dark ride. i guess it is going to make room for a coaster. or a dark ride that cedar point calls a coaster.

...or a new entertainment venue, or a relocated ride, or a rock-climbing wall, or a new restaurant, or a relocated Marina gate...

There are other possibilities beyond a new coaster.

They have re-routed the perimeter road during the demolition. Traffic seems to flow real well the way they have it right now. Shows just how much land could be freed up if the re-routing were permanent.

Definitely, but I don't think rock-climbing wall is one of them.

I don't know why people on this site are so against discussing the possibilty of a new coaster at Cedar Point. This has long been rumored to be the location of the next coaster, and there's an awful lot of land opening up. You have them clearing space, Tony posting the pic over a year in advance, and numerous mentions from Tony being "excited" about what the next few years bring. Coaster isn't far fetched, at all.

Not saying it will be a coaster, nobody knows... but a coaster or dark ride seem to be the favorites.

Has it been confirmed that those red employee dorms will be coming out? Or is that still just a rumor?

It's not a rumor. When the CEO of Cedar Fair says that he is embarrased by all existing on-point housing and starts tearing it out, it's a matter of if, not when, said facilities will be removed and replaced.

I'm certainly not against the possibility of a new coaster at the park. But rumors are just that: rumors; clearing space doesn't necessarily mean coaster; Tony's job includes being excited about what the park will be adding. A coaster or a dark ride aren't farfetched, but they're also not the only possibilities.

Heck, I'd be excited if they put urinal dividers in all the restrooms.

Actually, KHTOExtreme, Blue Streak has received TWO new light packages in the past few years. First they put the LEDs on to replace the original chaser lights, then a year or two later they added them to the park side of the coaster as well.

Having not been up there or looked at the cameras, how have they rerouted traffic during demolition? Are they running it through the parking lot?

That space is sure going to look different this year. I visited the park as early as 1972, but I don't *remember* the place without that theater.

It would be interesting to see if CF outsourced housing administration/contruction/upkeep to another company and eventually got rid of all their dorms. The land they own just off the point could be leveraged for off-point parking, more resort/hotel space, etc. Not to beat the fact the CEO is a Disney alum, but I think CP lacks enough stratification in hotel space. And frankly Sandusky has a pretty lousy base of hotels. I think that hurts the entire region more than CP however.
