Chaos Dismantled

The foot pedal is a "dead man's switch." They're found frequently on heavy machinery. It acts like an enable for the equipment.

Press it down, the ride goes.
Let it up, the ride stops.

That sucks, bigtime.

Chaos was probably my favourite flat at CP [outside of SkyRide and MAYBE maXair], and to see it gone really bugs me.

I don't care how many accidents it's had! :P Let me riiiiide!

[This from a guy who is terrified of being in a plane crash, which are probably less frequent than Chaos crashes]

Skyride is a flat?

Flat = non-coaster, I guess. I've heard folks call Power Tower a flat.

I'd consider Skyride a transportation ride.

^^^ Me too.

As for Chaos, we met some friends in the park on Wednesday. They said it was running Monday, didn't see it Tuesday, then late Wednesday we walked by and it was in pieces. There was a worker there, who said it wasn't permanent, they were just waiting for a bearing or something o_0

I am disappointed as well, I loved Chaos :(

Yes, because I was gonna say, when I arrived at the park Thursday morning, it was in pieces. Oh well, the employee ESD parking lot was a bit empty without Vertigo/Schwabinchen sitting back there... perhaps another ride will find its final resting place there...

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

I was there Wednesday and there were 2 maintenence workers working on the centrul hub.

Last I was there (18th and 19th of June) On the 18th, it was fine. I rode it in fact. Then on the 19th I saw it running but it wasn't spinning or the carts were flipping.. No one was on it. And mech were there all days. Maybe just some fixing off site, out of public. I don't know what the issue is. on the 18th it seemed fine. *** Edited 6/26/2005 6:10:41 AM UTC by Keith 2005***

Well, I was at the park this morning. It is put together again. There were 3 mechanics standing around putting some panels back on. Looks like it should be back up soon.

They probably got some maintenance recommendations from Chance-Morgan after the two incidents. That, or in-house preventative maintenance ordered by one of the higer ups.

Chance-Morgan? Huss made the ride.

No... Chaos is a Chance ride. We've been making the joke, "Wanna take a Chance on Chaos?" for years.

Just to let everyone know. I was at the point today and Chaos was back up and running.

Darn, LCG was wrong again! He said that they were going to replace Chaos with a 600 foot sky swat and another ride that was more unreliable than Chaos! ; )

Im sorry. I couldn't resist.

As noted, Chaos fully functional today (6/26). Well, sort-of. It had about four seats roped off.

Interesting how when referring to Millennium Force and Dragster, we hear how Cedar Point has to conform to the manufacturer's specifications, but Chaos has this bodged-together-looking manual release system for the restraints that doesn't look like anything I've ever seen on any other Chaos, and almost certainly didn't come from Chance/Morgan.....

On thursday 6-23-05, chaos was dismantled when I walked buy.

Nothing like being a day late and a dollar short....

Dave, (or anyone for that matter)
Why are they using only the manual release? It was rather annoying when I went second weekend and had to wait for the girl to go all the way around to release all the harnesses. I thought maybe it was a temporary workaround while they waited for a part or something to fix the regular release. When we were there, it was only exacerbated by the fact that there was only the one girl and she seemed pretty frazzled with having to run it herself. I would think if they are going to go with the manual only, they should have at minimum 2 people running that ride, if not 3.

Anyway, I'm glad its not going anywhere. It's one of the best flats at the park. And skyride, isn't a flat, its a transportation ride.

Goodbye MrScott

John

What's a sky swat?

Whatever, SkyRide isn't a coaster, so it's a flat ride to me :P I have three classifications, coaster, flat, water. The end.

Anyway, I'm super-glad Chaos is back up and running.
