Chaos Dismantled

Stubborn Canucks ;) .....heck, flume rides could be classified as coasters. They are like a Disaster Transport with water. You go up a lift, follow a trough and go down a hill. So even your water classification is just a sub classification of coasters.

correct me if i am wrong.

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

seriously, they got rid of Schwabinchen to move Chaos, so why would they dismantle it??

Who wants to see a high dive? I said, who wants to see a high dive?

Maybe because its not safe? There were 2 breakdowns at other Chaos rides in the week before the overhaul of CP's Chaos, not to mention they've had this ghetto manual release system this year that just kills the efficiency (and fun) of the ride.

I'm sure removal is at the bottom of the list, but if it became way to much of a maintenance and safety nightmare I wouldn't be suprised to see it go. Hopefully CP can stay on top of things because Chaos is one of the best flat rides that they have. maXair made a good showing towards knocking Chaos off the top of my flat-ride list, but either way, Chaos is still up there.

Chaos is back up. It was down for mechanical reasons. Don't worry it's not going anywhere this season.

Thank you MaXair Girl for the report, I was starting to wonder if I wouldn't see Chaos when I made my next trip. I'm sure when I go next week, being the 4th and all, it's going to be busy. MaXair and Chaos will be busy along with Wicked Twister.

Well, I started working there on the 14th and went to take a spin on Chaos. The ride op was new and still reading the spiel from a paper. The ride only operates if the op keeps their foot on a pedal, if they lift they're foot off..it e-stops. Well she definatly did...it went up without tilting and all of a sudden stopped...while high up in the air. It came down slowly and she just rolled her eyes and let everyone out of the ride. I didn't stick around to watch the aftermath. Maybe she broke it??

Wrong. Chaos could've been put anywhere in the park. They got rid of it because ridership was in the crapper and you can't get parts for it anymore unless you fabricate them yourself.

Of course, if the park wants to *put* the ridership into the crapper for any ride, all they have to do is park it behind the Coliseum. Wicked Twister and maXair have done a lot to improve traffic back there, but Chaos still languishes. Which, given its current capacity situation, is probably not a bad thing.

I predict that the traffic along that midway will pick up significantly the year they replace the Aquatic Stadium and/or Peanuts Playground with a major new attraction.

Dave is right, the Wicked Twister Midway is looking good untill you get to the Aquatic Stadium. Then it's dead as ever. Knock out the Pogada(sp?) Gift Shop and Peanut's Playground and it will open the area up.

I think Peanuts Playground is a total waste of space. Even on the busiest of days the place is deserted. Removing it would make plenty of room for a new attraction that would further improve that area of the park.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

They were testing chaos with the cars back on it this morning at 9:30 when i was walking in.

I agree completely about the WT midway. Back by the Aquatic Stadium, Ocean Motion and such it just seems like something else could be done to bring the whole area to life. I have high hopes for it however seeing as things have been going in the right direction.

Magnum still rocks.

...or they could tear down the big ugly DT building and put something there. =)

I agree, I think the DT building is ugly and unatractive.

Thrills Around the Corner!

Why would you say tear down the DT building???

It has been there for over 10 years and it makes the area right. If you tear it down CP has only 15 coasters then and would be 2nd for most coasters at one park in the world.

IT should stay!!!

That building is an eyesore. It should be trashed with extreme prejudice, with the ride inside in it. Who cares about records. What's the point of having a park on the lake if you can't see it? Ditch that stupid warehouse, and suddenly maXair, Troika, Giant Wheel and Wicked Twister have infinitely better views.

When it was Avalanche Run I think it looked really cool having the coaster right there on the beach. Even with just the coaster there the views would be great. Having big buildings along the coast isn't very good.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Yeah Jeff you do have a good point.........................
