Fast Lane is coming to the park

Has anybody looked at the comments on their Facebook page?

People on Facebook hate everything. The anger and backlash over Boeckling’s Banquet last fall was both hilarious and sad. It's a pretty inaccurate snapshot of actual guest opinion.

Well then, shall I get a thread going on who wants to Buy Fast Passes with Me and my friend Monday the 15th? Save us some money...

I'm not surprised by the Facebook comments at all, and not just because everybody hates everything on Facebook. Most "casual guests" that I know have gotten really cynical about CP's in-park pricing the last several years. It's not a shock that they are viewing it as yet another cash grab at the expense of customer service.

Not that I'm saying it will be that way. If they manage it right (which would mean huge improvements over what I've heard about KI's system) I don't think it will impact the non-Fast Lane guests in any noticeable way. But if they're holding up trains or blocking off parts of the station, I expect non-users will throw a fit. I am surprised but somewhat happy to see a good chunk of lower-capacity rides so far aren't included.

WHY DOES MEAN STREAK HAVE A FAST LANE?

WHY ARE YOU TYPING IN ALL CAPS? :)

As for your question - ever been to Halloweekends?

Brandon

What is the difference between the regular and gold fast passes. It says they both offer unlimited fast lane access to tge rides but the gold costs $5 more. I am definitely getting this since we come from Virginia and only get to go once a year. It is worth it to is for top thrill dragster and maverick alone. Thanks!

I don't see anything about a Gold Fast Lane. But buying it on a Saturday will cost $5 more per person.

Because I was trying to add more emphasis! :)

But anyway, yes I have been to Halloweekends on a Saturday, and will never be going on a Saturday again.. WAY to crowded. But I still don't understand why they would choose Mean Streak. The lines for Mean Streak will be insane for a small number of days during the season.

If you act like you are going to buy one then you have the option of regular or gold. The gold costs $5 more than regular. I emailed Cedar Point and they said there is only one pass type even though it clearly gives the option of 2. I emailed them back asking them to try it for themselves. I'm waiting on a reply.

They got back to me. Apparently some glitch on the site. Its fixed now aand just shows the regular passes.

You've got a point. I would imagine, as others have mentioned, the ride lineup for FL has less to do with rides that "need" FL access, and more to do with rides whose queues can accommodate FL access. The more rides CP can tout as having FL access, the better the perceived value.

Personally, MS having FL access makes me 43% more likely to ride it. Of course, 1.43 times 0 is still 0.

I think it's also part of advertising the ride. People see Mean Streak and think they mine as well do it because they're guaranteed no wait. That ups the ridership.

I'm sorry if this question has already been answered. but I'm curious. It's my understanding that Fast Lane takes guests directly to the loading platform, right? So, will they just randomly cut in front of regular guests at that point? I can see where that might be problematic for some people. Since exit-ramp use is not allowed for this--right?--then I can assume that trains on Millennium and Dragster will NOT pull into the loading station with Fast Pass guests already sitting in the seats. For small groups trying to line up so they can all ride together, this would be a big problem I think. I guess I'll figure it out when I actually see it work at the park.

It shouldn't be any more of a problem then when a Parent Swap or Special Access either boards in front of you or is already in the train when it pulls in.

I wonder what the hours are as to when they start handing out the passes. I would cautiously assume it opens with the park and not early entry. And if that's so, do the guests who buy in advance and get early entry have to wait till the park opens to the general public?

That aside, I think this will work fine at CP and don't mind it despite the minor negative points being made as well as my personal fear of missing the first train of the season on Dragster to a group using it. And I'd say "Stupid thing to worry about I know." but I just wouldn't be me if I WASNT worried about something as pointless as 1st train of the season. :)

They're offering it on rides you don't think are necessary because it offers a higher perception of value. I would argue that you really only need it for Dragster, Millennium Force and Maverick, but it wouldn't look like a very good deal with three rides, would it?

Giant Wheel, as corny as it sounds, seems like a good fit to me. That line moves so slow. Unless there are only 3 or 4 people in line my kids will not ride it.

Also could ruin the 75% chance Rollback on Train 1 during Cold days... or in this case Day 1 as well

EDIT

what they COULD do to make Everyone happy is give everyone that goes to Cedar Point a 1-Fast Lane ticket to be used on the day you go. This can only be used Once, but gives everyone a chance to use it.

Season Passers or just Platinum get a Bonus ticket each time they go. (or limited to X days they go)

And then they sell these also at the park for anyone at an X price, say 5 dollars or so.

Makes everyone happy, keeps things fair, and Gets Cedar Point money. (cause after all, its them just standing in another line..)

Does anyone think it is possible that they set the price too low for fast lane? If the price is too low, too many people will pay for it and the waits for fast lane would be long. I would also think that the fast lane would take business away from their VIP tours.

CP_Obsessed_Freak1987's avatar

Not a fan.. Just another cost for the customers. I might be "old fashioned" but how about we all wait in line like we are suppose to and just learn to live with it? It's line jumping but it's okay because they're getting paid.

The problem with the VIP tour is that re-rides are not permitted. The fast lane actually sounds better than the VIP tour. We will have to wait and see.

I am trying to picture how the MF queue would work. I know there is a separate entrance but I can't recall where that queue ends. Does it end inside the station?
