Gemini parking lot.

As of yesterday only about 25 percent of the Gemini lot was accessible. The rest was fenced off. Wish I knew what was up because this is where I generally like to park. Seems like a waste of perfectly good parking spaces.

Maybe it's project 2014. :)

What?! And there aren't even 50 threads titled "Project 2014" yet? What has this site come too... ;)

But this really intrigues me. I know it could be nothing, but on the other hand this could also be the start of what's to come next year.

Out of curiosity, if you knew why it was fenced off, would you cease to be irritated?

Promoter of fog.

Who even says 2014 is getting its own project?

No.

It could be for the parts for skyhawk
Maybe?

Leave the hypercoaster alone

Seems like a lot of space for a few cables.

Can somebody post a picture or highlight on google maps how much this takes up?

It was me, I'm sorry, I was just kidding around.

Here's a picture that shows where the fence is located.

That's certainly not for any kind of construction. Seems to me they wanted to split the lot into two parts. One is still publicly accessible, the other part is only accessible after the guard house on the road. For whatever reason, they probably want to regulate use of that part of the lot.

Wow, that's a bummer. It was a very convenient spot to park to unpack the kids, their stroller, and easily walk to the back of the park. I imagine it will be a lot harder to park there since I see others who do the same thing. Not only that, it was a nice place to picnic in the grass for those who wanted to leave the park and eat something we packed.

The park sure is doing a good job grabbing more money from me :) They are making it inconvenient for me to eat out of the park by doing this and making it more convenient for me to eat in the park with the Platinum Pass perks in the park.

I wonder if the increased discussion of the lot led to increased use, and thus the limitation.

I agree that the grassy area that's now inaccessible was ideal. Back the car up, pop the tailgate and have a nice picnic.

Hey if the park wants to deal with my crazy screaming child at restaurants that's on them at this point :)

Make them pay!!

Does the hotel parking lot reach capacity on busy weekends? As Pete mentioned, I wonder if this area was blocked to ensure adequate parking for hotel guests.

I suspect that might be it. I've seen the hotel lot pretty much full during the summer.

Yes, the hotel parking lot DOES overflow on heavy weekends...wouldn't be surprised to find that this is the reason that area has been reserved
