Gemini parking lot.

^Lol be happy they let ya park back there. There were days supervisors or gold tags would sit back there waiting for people that worked the park and would shoo us out of there. I got away with it a bit but not always. It's a perfect parking spot for everything and honestly perfect for Area 3. Having to park up front and walk back everyday or whatever was a pain in the ass...Friend worked Mean Streak, had to walk back there from the front every morning lol

Back then, as a landscaper, that's where we were supposed to park. And I only worked a few Saturdays in six years, so I never had to worry about parking ban days.

Maintenance vehicles used to park under/by Disaster Transport. There isn't space there anymore due to GateKeeper, so I am guessing they decided to use the Gemini lot to park such vehicles.

I agree with Jeff, Soak City lot isn't that much farther of a walk....

I see people tailgating on the Soak City side, along the road, almost every visit.

Yeah, but there's no grass there. Which, for me and it seems a few others, is the main draw of the Gemini lot.

I understand the need for maintenance parking if the Breakers lot was filling too much. Lord knows we value the maintenance crew! They have a thankless task!

I had heard from a friend that the lot size had been greatly reduced, but I was shocked to see by just how much when we visited this past weekend.

I'll echo the comment of someone earlier in this thread. In our case, it wasn't that we perceived the lot as any "closer" to the park, but we viewed it as a much "safer" place with less in-and-out traffic, which we've loved because it's easier to get the stroller out of the trunk, get the kids situated and slathered with sunscreen, etc.

I guess I always knew the lot was a "gift" in some sense, and expected to lose access to it at some point. But it is very disappointing. (And, in fact, the reserved portion was next to empty on Sunday, which added insult to injury!) We did the Soak City lot instead, and indeed had to be much more careful with some "less than courteous" drivers as we got the girls settled and ready to go.

Its in the same vein as FastPass; the elimination of perks/Easter eggs/hidden gems that long time guests utilize in favor of making the casual guest happy.

Since when does the park have enough maintenance vehicles to justify that much parking space anyway? Did they acquire a few boxcars and car haulers recently?

It's not just the vehicles, it's the employees as well. They used to stash a ton of stuff around and inside the last turn of Disaster Transport. That space is gone.

Seriously, all of this bitching and moaning about something so relatively inconsequential is ridiculous.

^This is America. What do you expect?

Sorry, just had to! Seriously though, when I went to Europe several years ago I've never seen so many nice, friendly, and happy people before. I really wish more Americans were like that.

Maybe if we had universal healthcare, guaranteed vacation time, and a lot fewer guns to worry about, we'd be as well-adjusted as Europeans.

If you don't like the fact you can't park all the way down Gemini lot and have to park in soak city lot get over yourself. I liked Gemini lot but I don't really care if my spot moves a bit or even up in the front of the park. Parking is parking, regardless of where its at I'm going inside of the park eventually anyways

I was there on Wednesday 8/14 and from the Gemini lift hill I could see that the center wooden sections of the fence have been removed and the parking lot opened back up. Not sure if that was temporary, but there were clearly civilian cars mixed in with worker trucks all the way to the end of the lot closest to the gate.

So maybe the will be more than a one day thing. I hope so.
