Millennium vs. Superman

In light of Millennium Force's recent #2 steel coaster ranking...

Has anyone out there ridden "Superman: Ride of Steel" at Six Flags New England? (The coaster that got the #1 ranking)

If anyone has, what makes it a "better" ride than Millennium?

Never ridden it. I'm sure it's a good ride, but personally, I wouldn't give my money to a six flags park.

Two words: Queue length.

Hardly enough for a number one.

The AL Wildcard will come from the AL Central, and it wont be the Twins.

It’s all subjective really…

If you like constant speed, big drops, big turns, and floaty air, MF would be for you. If you like insane sustained ejector air, quick drops, and tight turns, S:ROS @SFNE is for you.

I happen to like the later one a bit more, but it doesn’t make one "better" than the other.

I went to SFGAdv and it really wasn't bad at all. I guess it is because it is my home park and I'm not blessed with the greatness of CP. I mean 3 out of my top 5 is coaster's from GADV. The park isn't super clean but the Nitro crew is great and El Toro is the best wooden ever. Back on topic, I think that nothing could ever replace MF. Except maybe a 400 foot lift with super long zero-g airtime hills like MF I would like better. SM:RoS sounds alot like a steel El Toro the way Joe described it so I would say it wouldn't beat out my top 2.

What does Six Flags Great Adventure have to do with Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England?

...unless I missed a memo, which I don't think I did.

You spelled "Magnum" incorrectly.

;)

But at least on Magnum, the ejector air ends back at the station, not when you hit the ground.

I haven't been on S:RoS (I don't know how anything could be better than Millennium!) but I've heard people that prefer that, and I've heard people that prefer MF. I think they must be very close, and it all boils down to each person's individual opinion.

Thrills Around the Corner!

It all depends on what you like. To me, I really like long periods of floater. Which MF has and lots of it. You get your ejector from the drop. I just think I would prefer MF over SROS. Although if I rode it I'm sure it would be my #2.

SFNE was my old home park, I have ridden both and it's hard to say.

RoS is 102ft shorter and 21mph slower than Mille, but it goes underground twice something CP can't do.

RoS has a lot of air time like Magnum and sharp turns like Mille.

Bolth Mille and RoS have there ups and downs. (Mille is still beter on my list :) )

RoS at SFNE is nothing like RoS at NFDL. (which I have also ridden)

If you get the chance to ride RoS, do so!

P.S. Batman at SFNE is a great ride to so ride that too!

I like the constant air time Hills, which is what Millennium Force delivers. The speed is awesome too. Now I've never been to SFNE, but it looks like a great coaster. I want to ride it someday, because it keeps knocking Millennium Force out of the #1 spot. Plus I've heard great things about this coaster.

Well I have been on both coasters many times and the easy answer is that it all depends on what type of ride experience you are after. Where Millie has great speed and nice floater hills, S:RoS has quick transitions, sharper air time hills, and a twister portion that Millie lacks. They are both great coasters, but, not to anger anyone on this site, I think that S:RoS is the better coaster.

Pease insert insults now

Cedar Point is the best amusement park in the world though. I hope that doesn't seem to ingratiating.

This is BS! I live in New England and have ridden Superman many times. Yes, it is an awesome coaster, but nowhere near the thrill of MF, no way!

Amy

Hey guys,

I'm heading up to SFNE next month, and I'm expecting Superman to be a big rival to MF...mainly because of the number of hills! That's probably my biggest complaint of MF...really only 3 hills & a bunny hop. Don't get me wrong- great hills- great ride- the best, actually--but Superman looks like it will make me fly. and that's what i want.

Question for the experienced folks: i'm going to SF w/ a friend of mine that's 5'10 & about 260. He has a lineman's build. Wondering if he'll have a problem w/ Superman's restraints. Anybody have any opinions here? Should I put him on a crash diet? haha

Peace-

Don't let up on the lovin'

I didn't think this kind of topic was within the rules. Oh well, I'm posting anyway since I've been on both.

It does come down to preference. My preference is S:ROS. Sure, I live in NE now, but I lived most of my life in Toledo and visited the park several times a year with friends and family. So I'm not a homer. In fact, I prefer CP over SFNE any day.

That being said, MF is a great ride, but S:ROS@SFNE is a ride that I have never gotten tired of. Its so absolutely amazing that I do not have the words to describe it. If you come to New England and want to ride, here are the must rides (IMHO):

  1. S:ROS@SFNE
  2. Boulderdash
  3. Yankee Cannonball
  4. Excalibur

Magnum all the way. Although MF is good for a nap.

<Matt>
101 on Magnum and counting...

rcoast911 says it right

i live in rhode island about an hour and a half from SFNE, the ride doesnt compare to millenium force. its not what u like, its just not as good. hands down
