New For 2017: Cedar Point Shores Water Park

Does anyone else feel like the new slide complex encroaches on the current resort gate? It looks to take up a good bit of land.

^ I agree, and see what you mean. But, I think Cedar Point will have it all planned out. They wouldn't announce it without making sure it fits in the space they are using.

RMC Mean Streak: 215ft Tall, 75mph, 4 inversions. 2020)ALL BLACK B&M Flying Coaster on Millennium Island. 2023 or 2025) Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter like Takabisha

This announcement raised more questions than it answered in my opinion.

2018- Raptor

CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor

Today is proving to be an eventful day for Cedar Fair parks. Apart from what Cedar Point's getting, Dorney Park is getting two new rides, a new show, and other amenities; Carowinds is getting four new rides; both Carowinds and Kings Island are getting WinterFest; California's Great America is giving Vortex the Rougarou treatment; and Worlds of Fun will soon make an announcement of its own.

Just thought I'd put that out there.

EDIT: WOF now confirmed to be getting two new flat rides and WinterFest as well.

And the Star Flyer at Valleyfair

In the renderings it looks like Zoom Flume is getting a new paint job with banners.

I like the upgrades I always thought that SC was just OK.

I hope this drives more guests, SC was never really busy when I went.

This doesn't mean anything. Shoot the Rapids could be seen in Valravn renderings, and we all see how that went.

Except the fact that we don't know the timeline for when they decided to scrap STR. The park knows exactly what they are doing with mean streak, and probably did when these renderings were made. I can't imagine any reason they would leave it there, if they knew they were going to tear it down.

Of course there's a reason - so they don't tip their hand as to the fate of MS. This is their normal MO.

As someone who loves the resort aspect of Cedar Point, this is very exciting news. The rebranding makes perfect sense, now the entire resort package can be more cohesively marketed with the Cedar Point brand prominently mentioned in each name. With an unobstructed view of the lake, the new water park will be beautiful. Very excited about the Crystal Rock Cafe also, sounds like it will have some great menu items and I love how the name goes back to CP's history. With all that was announced today, this is a very exciting time of growth for Cedar Point.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I hope that they at least keep the fast river. It always seems popular and it's a great way to relax.

Are you SURE that is Mean Streak? I think that is Gemini in the background. Told the hubby a couple of days ago I was sure they were going to add something to Soak City. Although I thought they'd put in a funnel.

Crystal Rock Cafe...did anyone else take this name to be a nod to the Crystal Rock Bottling Co. (Aka Shoot the Rapids)? Could just be a coincidence or the park just reused the name. But still interesting,

Arms Down, Head Back, and Hold On!...Arms Down!...Arms Down......

So the Breakers addition will not be connected to Hotel Breakers?

I thought it was going where Bon Air used to be which is now a grass field.

What indicates to you that it's not?

The press release also stats the sports complex on Rt. 6 "will also provide fun for families who attend tournaments, like miniature golf..."

I wonder if this will replace the Challenge Park miniature golf course?

Crystal Rock is a nod to Crystal Rock Castle that once existed at Cedar Point...

It's absolutely on purpose. Just look at what was on the former station of Shoot the Rapids. It was Crystal Rock Bottling Co. This park's designers/media personnel know the park's history and love to use it when they can.

It's another reason to love this park's newer management. Look at what Matt Ouimet's background is. Hotels. What's one of the first things they come in and update? Hotel Breakers. It restored the building to a sense of when it was first built, with modern updates of course. And now they're doing the same to Breakers Express, which has been long overdue.

Jason McClure and Tony Clark and all of those guys have such a reverence for this park beyond their work there. It truly shows and that's why you're seeing such great updates to not only the park's ride lineup, but to the look and feel and experiences.
