What's wrong with the Midway Market?

mermaidsair's avatar

As a waitress in Canada I make $8.95 an hour plus tips which are usually around the $25 an hour mark. It is good money for short hours. I can honestly say my job at Red Lobster has put me through grad school which ends in a few weeks. In Ohio is it not true they make like $2 an hour plus tips? I tip generously. Buffets may not seem it but can be a lot of work.

Too bad he didn't get his finger out of the way first. ;)

Some people like it, some people don't, and some will have a small party when a gas leak causes it to explode.

Actually, it's Super Stew's low expectations that exacerbate the poor quality of food and service. As long as our expectations are low and people keep paying for the slop, it's going to keep operating.

So let me make sure I understand. Because I'm at an amusement park and kids are running the place I should expect poor quality of food and bad service and not have any issues with it? You say it's not like Red Lobster or Applebee's, well I'm paying as much, if not more, to eat there. Why shouldn't it be of that quality?

It's bad no matter how you try and spin it.

Thank God, because those places suck completely. That's hardly a high standard to shoot for.

Midway market reminds me of the buffet from Vegas Vacation. I'll have a little bit of the green......

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

^^Hmmm, makes me wonder if there's anywhere that's "good". The places around you must really suck.

That's my interpretation, too. What's actually good around, Jeff?

There's plenty of good places to eat around here. I mean, I find Applebee's or Red Lobster an acceptable place to eat a meal, but it's not anything special.

Loopy,

Perhaps you could point out to me where I said that I have low expectations of the place. While you're at it, you can also show me where I said that one should have no issues with poor quality of food and bad service. You should understand and know what you're talking about before you go flapping your gums putting words into other peoples mouths. The reason you and I pay as much for that "slop" as we do is because they have us by the scrotum. We have no choice but to eat their food unless we start bringing a packed lunch and having our own lovely little care free picnic. Sounds like that would be a great idea for you.

Jeff,

Red Lobster and Applebees suck ?!?! Really ?! I guess I just wasn't aware of that. I appreciate you clearing that up and bringing it to my attention though. I would've hated to continue eating at those places under the silly assumption that they were actually good. What I really meant to say before I had my retard moment was ... We need to remember that MM isn't Mcdonalds or Burger King. How about that as a standard to shoot for ?

Sure, the service might not be the greatest. And sure, the food is probably not the best in the world. But I think sometimes our expectations can be a little too high and unreasonable.

If that's not having low expectations of something, I'm not sure what is. You just told me to lower my expectations of a meal I'm paying over $13 for, plus a tip. I've had better food at fast food restaurants for 1/2 that. Your entire post was about lowering your expectations, I'm not sure how you can't see that of your own writing.

Well, I think I'll flap my gums a little more and make you aware that if you feel like they have you by the scrotum, you're doing it wrong. If that's the way you feel about the place then you have to be super stewpid to continue eating there. I didn't put any words in your mouth, you put them there yourself.

Speak for yourself, "I" don't pay for the crap that they try pawn off as food. I'd rather eat at one of the chain restaurants in the park that are at least close to edible or go outside the park to eat. So maybe you should stop assuming that everyone is perpetuating poor quality.

Seriously, if you think Applebees is good, you either have no taste or you just haven't had much restaurant food. It's all deep fried or microwaved bland crap.

Isn't that like saying if you like food that I don't, you have no taste?

Want to eat a good Italian restaurant... go to Luigis in Akron.

Open till 2am on weekdays and 4am on weekends. Some of the best pizza you will ever eat, along with pasta and salads. Etc etc.

On topic now, Midway Market is subpar.. the only time I really eat there anymore is sometimes when they have the pizza buffet during halloweekends. Otherwise I will stick to Fridays or Famous Dave's.

They need to take a lesson from the buffet down at Kings Island.

Well I guess you got me ! Super Stewpid indeed. Especially when comparing to the brilliance of someone like yourself and the bulletproof logic that you've blessed us all with. Simply amazing how you were able to see right through my post and clue everyone in on the fact that I was saying one thing but yet meaning another.

Oh ye "the master interpreter of quotes and posts" .. Let me please try to explain and express myself a little better since I screwed it all up the first go around. And I'll do my best to leave no doubt or confusion this time. Ready ?! Here we go ...

1. If you DON'T like the Midway Market like Loopy, then don't be "loopy" and eat there.

2. If you DO like the Midway Market (which I'm Stewpid and do), then by all means, don't be "loopy" and NOT eat there.

How was that ?? Certainly not as clever or cute as your wonderful insight, but definitely as cool !

I actually laughed out loud when I read that. Try eating at arestaurant that has a cook and not a guy that takes the food out of thefreezer and like Jeff said deep fries it or microwaves it. You don'thave to go to Chez Francios but check out your local Italian joint next time instead of the Olive Garden or find the nearest family ownedDeli for lunch instead of going to Subway and you'll start to figure itout.
