What's wrong with the Midway Market?

I know I am jumping to conclusions because I have not eaten there, but I would have a hard time understanding how good a place can be when their self proclaimed specialty is "grilled cheese sandwiches". That brings up visions of the lunch lady with her hair net on.

You've just gotta see it to believe it. The bread is thick and baked locally, the cheeses are top shelf and... well, just look at the photos on their Web site. They've got a wall there covered with positive press and reviews.

So I guess the only question left is; What, if anything, can be done about it ?

My great hope is that the new guy in charge of foods this year will be exactly what the entire park needs. I doubt he'll be able to make much headway with pricing since dad is out walking the midways (instead of figuring out how to get my distribution back up), but the quality and service issues can't possibly get much worse. Crossing my fingers for a better year.

Sounds like maybe I've just gotten lucky on my visits. I havn't had any major issues with that stuff, but then again I only make it out 5-10 times a year. I'm sure you guys that go more regularly see and have to deal with a lot more bs.

I was super before Super Stew was cool !

Nothing! Food is delicious - quite a variety to choose from. Reasonably priced especially for an amusement park and includes drinks and dessert. We go there for dinner everytime we go to Cedar Point.

Awesome first post.

Ate there this past Sunday for the first time and was very impressed. The food actually had flavor, tasted fresh and was being replaced before pans were even half-empty. The dessert bar had a huge variety of very tasty items and actually served hand dipped ice cream at the sundae bar.
Buy online for $10.65 under meal deals and it even includes the refillable souvenir cup. Even at full price without the cup, it is still a great deal. I will eat there quite often in the future.

Yeah, me and my dad always eat there for dinner. It's a nice change of pace from riding to go sit down in an air-conditioned room and eat.

Thanks for the cute post, but I honestly couldn't care less how correct I sound in my posts. You're probably a great guy to hang out with.

Of course they do, It's the internet that RE-teaches it to us in a more sociably acceptable manner. As long as it'z readable, it good, dawg.

I actually love Midway market's food, especially their desserts, I just wish they still gave platinum pass discounts.

If you buy the meal deal package, that's better than what the platinum pass discount ever was.

I really should get back to Midway Market at some point. It's been years since I've eaten there, and I've mostly always enjoyed their food.

Is that something you have to buy online?

The meal deal can be purchased at any ticket booth. We've picked them up at a couple of the gates this season.

"Thank the Phoenicians!"

For those of you keeping score at home, the meal deal no longer includes Midway Market. The voucher is only good at Round Up, Dragon's Inn or Bayou Refreshments now.

Well that stinks! We were hoping to eat there on our two Halloweekend weekend visits.....grrrrr!

The Boeklings Banquet price went up from last year so it's a good thing we did it then.

The picnic meal deal is only so-so.

Looks like Bay Harbor on Saturday and Game Day Grille on Sunday instead, with some tail-gating when it's snack time.

You won't eat at MM because it now costs $3 more than it did with the deal? Even at $13 it is still a better deal than Bay Harbor or Game Day Grille.

Bay Harbor on Saturday night will be nice and relaxing, an escape from the crowds. I'm guessing MM will be packed, so if it's full price, we won't go there. We may just use our Platinum Pass perks on Sunday and have fries and macho nachos-----depends how we're feeling and if the weather is cooperating.

Don't get me wrong, I like MM. I liked it even more when I could get it for roughly $11.00! If they raise the price during Halloweekends, (as they did for parking), it may be more than its current $13-$14.

The food in Bay Harbor isn't much better. I'm not sure what happened, but I ate there twice this year, once last year, and it was so bland.

So does anyone go here during their visit? I introduced my friends to this and we all agreed it was a great value!

I do go to Midway Market once in awhile. It is better to go on a busy day as the food is refreshed in the buffet more often so it is hotter and fresher. I definitely agree that is a great value and probably the best deal in the park.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I go all the time, usually right when they open. I leave the house around 6a and by the time 11 rolls around and I've had a few rides I'm pretty hungry. It's a buffet, and I don't know what to say about that except I've had worse.
Early in the season there was a staffing issue. Now that there's Freestyle the "servers" don't do anything but clear dirty dishes and clean tables and sometimes they pile up everywhere. The last time I was there the manager was bawling out some guy who had gone AWOL for a while leaving them without a seating host and a busser. My guess is he's no longer there.

I'm season meal plan so I pay the slight uncharge and still think there's value. I can eat as much or as little as I want, and I can refill my drink and carry it out. If I stay late, and if I feel peckish, I'll go to Pinks or someplace for meal two.
