Stop complaining about Mean Streak. You have the best amusement park in your backyard and Mean Streak is a great ride. I have to drive 11 hours to come to your park every year. My hometown park is King Dominion, and MS is better than 3/4 of the rides at my park! You guys are spoiled!!!

I mean, Kings Dominion is the 2nd best Cedar Fair park IMO!

I feel the same way man. I live in Boston, and ever year we fly-sometimes twice a year-and spend a week at CP because it IS the best park with the best coasters. Far better than any park close to home. Not a single coaster there falls short.

I have to agree with the guy above. Mean Streak is a good ride! Like I said I think it all depends upon where you sit on Mean Streak. I've had a couple good rides this year on Mean Streak. It's not as smooth as Voyage or Lightning Racer, but it's still a good wooden coaster. One coaster that I thought was rougher than Mean Streak is Son of Beast. I rode that once and vowed to never ride it again because I thought I would have to see a chiropractor the next day. That's how much it hurt my back.

Thanks for that. I love looking back on Cedar Points past.

That video is awesome.

Wow, that train is going so fast through the later part of the course. Has to be 10 mph difference.

Ha, at 2:47 in the video the lady says: "it was very smooth", anyone ride MS on opening day/year and was it pretty smooth?

I rode it the second day of operation. It was smooth... Reminded me of The Beast and Racer the way it went about the tracks.

As has been pointed out, trim brakes have made this ride terrible.

I rode Mean Streak on opening day in 1991, it was as smooth as any steel coaster I've ever ridden. By mid season though, it was already developing a little of the shaking and roughness we experience today.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

My memory from the opening season before the trims was different. It felt as if the train was going to bust through the timbers on each turn. I was ready for something mind blowing so I loved it. The part where it crosses over the lift my boyfriend said he felt like we were going to be flung into the lake. I loved how the violence and speed only seemed to build up through the final part under the MCBR and that it took multiple brake runs at the end to stop the train. It was unbelievable.

I still like the ride now because of it's sheer size. And I believe there is another phase possible in it's life with new timberliner trains perhaps. It is also a fantastic backdrop in that part of the park. It's like a mountain range in the distance.

In short, I don't want it to be replaced.

Mean Streak is still a damn good ride, and it will not be leaving in the near future.

In terms of only running 2 trains..... I dont understand why they are only running 2 trains... The ride is a long ride. I do understand why Corkscrew only had 2 trains on the track this season though. The seat belt addition did slow down things and all 3 trains would stack.. so that was a no brainer converting to 2 train opperation.

Mean Streak should at least have all 3 trains available... even if they dont need to run them every day.

^Mean Streak now has it's green train on the transfer and is rotated.

I know this forum is about Mean Streak but Corkscrew could easily run 3 trains if they got automatic shoulder restraints rather than the pedal on each car.

I can see the really extreme busy days, but does Corkscrew really need to run three trains anymore?

coolkid2345's avatar

^ No, but if they have all 3, I would just like to see an upgrade on all of the trains to make it efficient to run 3 trains. It is more efficient running two rather than 3 at this point.

The crew on Corkscrew the past 2 years have been amazing, last year they were running to attempt to dispatch a train before the other trains were stacked; the problem was is they had to press the pedals.

Mean Streak is awful. I have ridden a lot of great and a lot of horrible coasters wood and steel. Mean Streak is in my bottom 10. Cedar Point is awesome and I would never complain about that being my home park. I could understand you "yelling" at this guy if he was complaining about MF, or TTD or something but he is complaining about arguably the worst ride, not coaster, but ride in the park.

If you think Mean Streak is such a great ride I would be happy to send it to KD and take Rebel Yell off your hands, heck I'll even take Grizzly or Hurler over Mean Streak.

Just because Cedar Point is a great park doesn't mean it has no bad rides...
