Mean Streak being replaced?

Coolkid even if they had automatic over the shouler restaraints wouldn't the safety conscious cedar fair still have seat belts that we would have to deal with?

It depends on the restraint. All of the new B&M hypers do not have seat belts because the restraints have a back up system.

However, I would say it is extremely unlikely that any existing coaster would get new restraints.

^^Do they even check the seatbelts anymore? I just think they look at it.

^Every ride with a belt on it I have been on this season (almost every weekend) the ride ops have actually touched the belt to make sure it's fastened and tightened. I can't remember one time where they haven't.

The main dispatch problem with Corkscrew seems to be that the ride operators check every restraint. Back in the day, you just sat down, pulled down the restraint and the spiel said "push up on your restraint to ensure that it is locked" and off you went. They were able to run three trains with hardly any stacking, the train waiting outside the station just sat there for perhaps 10 seconds, if that.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

So my question. I was at CP on the 4th and 5th. There was only the red and Gold train were even on the track. The Transfer track area was empty. Does anyone know if they plan to use the 3rd train at all?

^That is really weird, I thought someone in the community said it was already on about 1 month ago. It might be down for maintenance or they might just not be using it but that is weird. How were the crowds on Mean Streak?

I could have sworn I saw the red train running when I was there yesterday.

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

Red and Gold are running. It is Green that is not on the track or transfer track. The line was out to the front, but the queues were not open. It was still over 30 minutes for the wait though.

I just wanted to add for some reason the green train is just sitting in the middle where they keep a lot of stuff for storage. To me it almost looks is if they are going to scrap it because they haven't done anything with it. Maybe Cedar Point is going to surprise us with Timber Line Trains like what Holiday World is doing for Voyage. Maybe that's all Mean Streak needs to be great again.

Next year is the 20th anniversary and I could totally see CP doing something to Mean Streak to make the ride a bit smoother. Adding the new styled trains would be pretty cool IMO.

Yeah I know Cedar Point is trying their best to try and make Mean Streak enjoyable again, but to me maybe it's not a tracking issue. Maybe if they tried newer trains like the Timber Liners it might be a great ride. If not Cedar Point should just build a new wooden coaster. I think it would be neat if there was a coaster like Lightning Racer in the back of the park if Mean Streak was ever replaced.

I think Gravity Group said they were only putting them on the coasters they built... Even if they did put new super dooper trains on the ride, the layout is still a big pile of boring. And like Rideman said the 2nd hill isn't designed right and the wheels dont stay on the outside rail.

maybe they should run one train backwards

I am almost positive that any roller coaster could get them as of Spring 2009. Even GCI now allows their Millennium Flyers on any ride that can be accommodated with them.

GCI isnt Gravity Group now are they? Who says MS's track even accommodates Timberliners?

I never once said they were the same company. I am not an engineer but it isn't like they cant modify the wheels on the train a bit. Calm down.

I am calm. There was no yelling there. I'm not Dj. ;) I was just saying just because GCI does it doesn't mean GG can...or will. I know if I were them I wouldn't want my new trains going on Mean Streak.
