New for 2014

if you look at it closely it does look like a wooden coaster structure. but i dont think cedar point would do the Texas giant makeover in 2014 because back to back major coaster never really happen but it did happen with wicked twister in 2002 and ttd in 2003. but you never know the Texas giant coast 10 million to re-do and gatekeeper was 25 million. i did some research and wicked twister was 9 million and ttd was 25 million. so there is a chance it could happen in 2014 but most likely 2015 or 2016 at the latest.

The other thought I had was a refurb for Cedar Creek Mine Ride, which also needs it - especially new cars with a modern restraint system and without the lock bar.

that could also happen but maybe the mean streak will get the Texas giant treatment because it will probaly cost 10 million like the Texas giant because they have similar layouts and were made by the same manufactuor and the wicked twister was 9 million and both ttd and gatekeeper were 25 million. so, the coast diffrennce between wicked twister and a possible Texas giant treatment is 1 million. i think they maybe could do it in 2014.

As much as I would love to see that happen, I don't think it's going to. Hopefully in a few years though.

You also have to think though, CCMR is a lot smaller than Mean Streak, therefore a refurbishment wouldn't cost as much

I would just like to see a new CCMR entirely.

Gatekeeper was built on the lake side.....so how about an all new "family" oriented coaster on the opposite Bay/marina side of the park? That old Imax theater area sure could use a spruce up.

Why are there so many people who want CCMR to get refurbished or demolished completely? I think it's a fun ride and don't see anything wrong with it.

That ride still exists? Oh... Wait...

On a serious note... It is painfully uncomfortable to ride for me... Being 6'6" tall, my legs do NOT enjoy those trains one bit. I like the ride, but never ride it because of that reason. I was excited when they were testing Gemini trains on it :(

Dark rides and enclosed coasters are not remotely the same thing.

I apologize for my incorrect statement, and this may be an idiotic sounding question, but what is the difference?

^^If I cross my legs before getting in I can fit, but you're right, it is tight.

I guess what I should have said is that I don't want the actual ride itself changed (layout), but I'd be happy if it gets new, larger trains.

So when is the actual announcement? Also what picture are you guys referring to?

I am almost positive will not get the NTG treatment. It was just retracted two years ago.

Shawn, we don't know when the actual announcement is going to be, but it will be after the 21 of August. And the picture is the picture listed next to the title of this blog entry in the page that shows all entries.

From what I understand, dark rides are indoor rides with theming (and they can have light) where as enclosed roller coaster are like Disaster Transport and simply enclosing a ride doesn't make it a dark ride.

Last edited by Magnum is awesome,

The biggest problem I've had with with CCMR in my past few visits is the fact that they are only using one train.

ccmr should get a makeover with new trains, put some more theaming into it and maybe rmc can re-track it with the ibox track because the mine ride is bumpy and jerky and keep the same layout but make a few airtime hills, make the turns sharper and make the first lift hill a little taller.

Until they are the same thing, like you get with Black Diamond or The Underground. ;)

Nope, still not even close to being the same thing. Putting a building around a roller coaster doesn't mean it's no longer a roller coaster.

Generally speaking, dark rides (like Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge, Toy Story Mania, Transformers: The Ride, etc.) are not gravity-driven, and have interactive elements as the primary focus of the attraction.

Brandon

Something like Toy Story Mania would be fantastic. Obviously it can't be Toy Story, but in my opinion, a 3D interactive shooting ride/game like that would be something that can have a lasting appeal for years to come.
