If CP ends up getting a dark ride, will other Cedar Fair parks get a dark ride as well? It seems to be sort of a trend with Planet Snoopy, Windseeker and Dinosaurs Alive! in recent years. Also do any other CF parks have a dark ride?

Yes - Boo Blasters on Boo Hill at CW, Carowinds, Kings Island and Kings Dominion.

I think Invertalon hit it on the head. With the testing that occurred with the Gemini trains earlier in the year on CCMR, I propose that that was a test run for CF to order new trains for it for next year. Couple that with a tweak or two on the layout, that may be ONE of the family freindly upgrades for next year.

Going into photoshop and increasing the highlight it looks like Mean Streak -- so my guess is a Texas Giant makeover of Mean Streak at long last....

That's what I was thinking too, but after comparing the photo to Mean Streak, I think there are too many structural differences. However, I think the beam angles and type of construction are very similar to Gemini.

When also considering that they placed the new live stream camera on the Gemini midway, perhaps there will be some changes in that area.

I tinkered around with some images of Gemini (found on Google images) and compared them to the blog photo. You can see the comparison in THIS PICTURE.

Obviously, these three images are not showing the same location. I simply wanted to notate a few similarities in construction (which I could not find any similar examples in Mean Streak photos):

1) A 45 degree beam, going upward, directly above a horizontal beam. In each photo, notice the single bolt that holds this beam to the vertical support beam.

2) In nearly the same position in each photo, there is another angled beam going down toward the left, directly below the beam notated #1

3) Again, a similar beam going upward toward the left.

If all the players are ready...at the sound of the bell, ROLL EM!

I know the newest craze in some of the Six Flags parks is to switch the trains to "Backwards" and have it for a limited time, to increase guest populations. From what I heard, they turned the train around and allowed people to ride backwards on an old wooden roller coaster, as well as an inverted steel coaster like the Raptor.
(Raptor forwards is intense enough, I can not imagine riding it backwards)

So almost like a 'new' ride, but not really... something I can see Cedar Point doing next year.

Use the Toy Story Tech and theme it to Snoopy Chasing the Red Barron

^I really think that idea could work. I suggested it in the Possible Dark Rides thread a while back, and I believe it would be a great addition to the park.

Is it possible that if Cedar Point wants to put in a dark ride that they could use the building formerly used for the Pirate Ride? I don't think such a ride will happen next year, I think it will be for families this time, but let's say down the road.

The teaser picture does look alot like the gemini structure. Maybe for 2014 they will redesing camp snoopys layout and also redo the arcade area because it looks bad and maybe That's why they put the live web cam there because its going to get re-done in 2014?

I'd like to see a cross between the Soarin tech and Toy Story tech with a theme along those lines.

Until they are the same thing, like you get with Black Diamond or The Underground. ;)

Nope, still not even close to being the same thing. Putting a building around a roller coaster doesn't mean it's no longer a roller coaster..

Exactly! The rides in my example are BOTH dark ride AND coaster. Both have extensive dark ride elements, props, theming, and animatronics. Both use slow moving roller coasters as their mode of transport as opposed to a powered vehicle, therefore they are both dark ride and roller coaster.

Putting a roller coaster in a box doesn't make said roller coaster a dark ride, but if the coaster is slow moving enough to take you past scenery, theming, stunts and animatronics then I see no reason they can't be considered both.

Does anybody think that maybe the games will be leaving to make way for this new ride? That is if in fact this happens to be a roller coaster, you could fit a nice size family coaster in the Gemini games area.

I am willing to bet that the picture has nothing to do with next year. Where is Tony to clarify when you need him?

He's probably sitting back watching us go crazy speculating

I would look forward to a new ride, but highly doubt that's whats coming. since we just got gatekeeper. I think more than likely since, they've redone the entrance, they might redo the whole midway. Give it a new feel/look. Tying the entrance and up towards luminosity together.

Hopefully the redo the midway get rid of the black top, get ride of the arcade/games and re-build them, expand camp snoopy and add a restaurant with a deck overlooking the lagoons because the lagoons actuly look really nice
