Time to retire Corkscrew

Boy do I feel wrong after reading all these posts. Even though I have felt this way for over two years now, I still jump on one or twice a season. I just make sure I take two advil and lean forward so I don't lose an ear.

I just wanted to see how people felt. My mind feels like I am 18 but my body is saying your still 35 stupid! If I really was 18 I probally would not think the ride was that rough. Thank for correcting me folks.

I think it has at least another five years untill you could even consider taking it down, and then you would want to either move it or re-model it. Plus it doesn't take up too much room and looks nice and has a lot of history.

It would be tough to get rid of it all together, but I fear when Cedar Point put's in their next looper this one is outta here!

I don't think CP should or would get rid of Corkscrew. Even if they make another looper down the road it'd just be like what Power Tower did to Demon Drop.

I do however think it is a rough ride but I still hop on it every here and there.

yea...i guess it stands like a shinning beacon in the park...but they should do somethin to improve and make it so you dont get hurt.

I dont get why power tower restraints are so hard to pull down...

I rode the "Corkscrew" at Michigan's Adventure this summer and I was surprised at how much smoother it is than C.P.'s "Corkscrew". Maybe when the time comes, C.P. can re-work the ride a little to take some of the jerks out of it.

C'mon now..Just because a few enthusiasts (as coldhearted and ridiculous as their ideas are) want to remove a classic..you don't have to call them Jerks!

I love the Corksrew...it was my first "upside down ride". If you want to talk about getting rid of a ride, lets talk MS. The ride-op said they only get between 8 and 9 thousand people per day...thats kinda sad :(
It will be time to retire Corkscrew when people get tired of riding it.

It still draws a million-plus riders a year--lumps, bumps, warts, imperfections (in the opinions of some) and all. That's the fact that renders all opinions that it should be 'improved' or replaced meaningless.

I like Corkscrew, but it could use the premier launch ride treatment... loose the OTSR's and it would be like heaven!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"

Hey hey hey, you leave my ride alone. Corkscrew is awesome. If you think the ride sucks, ride it in the back and your perspective on it may change. There would be no point to get rid of Corkscrew; think of the land the ride occupies. Corkscrew gave 1,347,482 rides last year and some of you are saying tear it down? Please. Mantis gave 1,253,978 rides last year, so why shouldn't Mantis go before Corkscrew? Corkscrew would have even more riders if there was a set of lockers by the entrance. So many people are turned away for having backpacks, purses, stuffed animals, etc. Some of you people need to stop being enthusiasts that want every ride to be the tallest, fastest, steepest, etc. Enjoy what Cedar Point has to offer! Variety is a good thing.

First off NO WAY!!! The corkscrew for me is Cedar Point. That ride creates what is the Cedar Point midway. The view down the midway with those beutiful blue corkscrews is unforgetable. That is the ride that got me fascinated with coasters since the beginning as a wee little sky kicker. I would hate to have that taken away. As Sapman said it may have it's issue but I love it just the same. It's staying.

"WE HAVE ANOTHER CHOICE PRIZE WINNER"
Even though it is a little rough, the Corkscrew should not be removed. It is an exciting ride all the way through, all though they should do something with that section of straight track. If any coaster should be removed or completly rebuilt, it is MS. It has lost almost all of its good points with the trims on the first drop.

Mozilla may have taken two years to reach v1.0, but it is more stable and secure than IE will ever be.

Nothing lasts forever gang. One day Corkscrew will be gone just like King Cobra at PKI. I think CP would actually benefit by tearing it down and putting a better looper in it's place. They can still have loops over the midway on the new one. My argument... tough rough and too short. We will have 16 coasters come next year. How many do we need? I say out with the old and in with the new..
Keep in mind that though Corkscrew may be tame to us, it also becomes a "first looper" for many kids. Just as Iron Dragon is many kids first "big coaster."

If Cedar Point removes these coasters, I think they will become less and less compatible to people of all ages.

I fool so feelish...

Of course, one day all the current coaster iterations as we know them won't be there anymore. Whether that's five, 10, 15, 20 years away is anybody's guess.

As for 'The Screw, I have nothing against it. It serves its duty.

For anyone who thinks Corkscrew is rough, try going to PKI and give Vortex a ride. That thing looks great, but made me feel like I needed to call it a day after the beating and headbanging.

Corkscrew isnt the smoothest ride, but it is still worth keeping.

I think Corkscrew is one of the more exciting Arrow loopers out there. It's not the biggest, but it has good pacing and the airtime hill before the loop is outstanding. I love the ride, and it's great for a few quick rides if the other coasters have a longer wait.

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

Why get rid of Corkscrew? If you don't like it, don't ride it. Plenty of people ride it and it is a classic. It doesn't take up much space and the corkscrews provide a visually catching element over the midway.

Sure the ride could be improved greatly with new cars and restraints. But, for goodness sakes....don't demolish it! (Arn't we competing with SFMM in the count???? ;) )
