CP&LE Railroad Possibilites for Improvements

Spit's avatar

So the line from the Mean Streak funeral, "Is he happy on this side of the tracks?", got me thinking. What if part of a Frontier Town project is expanding/changing the CP&LE?

I was thinking that re-routing the tracks out to Cedar Point Shores with a new stop there could add to the transportation aspect of the ride. Anyone else this this is feasible?

But also, I have often thought the CP&LE have been underutilized and is in need of some tlc. So what other things could/should be done?

Any stops would need to be inside the park so the resort entrance would be the closest to CP Shores it could get. I don't think that would work out so well there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of room to reroute in that area and then that would be taking the train out of the Boneville area I think.

Reminds me of trying to build a railroad in a well established rct park. Just was never easy to do. The cp railroad would be a beast to reroute at this point with cp being as full as it is

I wish they could extend it to the front gate, it would make it alot easier to go from the front back to Frontiertown if you were wanting to get back there quickly or vice versa.

The only thing I could see is the track being extended to run along Perimeter Road around the back side of the ride formerly known as Mean Streak then rejoining where it crosses the Gemini midway. But even that might be cost prohibitive and pointless.

If the objective is to increase traffic in the Mean Streak plaza, why not just move the station to the other side of the tracks? Done.

That would put both stations on the same side of the tracks, so the next logical step would be to block the right side of each row (as on the Kings Island train).

(who is still shocked that nobody has tried to put benatr frng orygf on the train yet. Encoded because I don't want to give them any bad ideas. 8-) )

I was wondering if you extended it down Perimeter road if you could somehow add a station by the base of the Dragster tower and cross the island there. I'm certain this is too complicated, disruptive and kills off Boneville (but seriously Boneville is a shadow of its glory days, and much like western cruise I have to think its days are numbered), but I think it would be nice to have a stop in that area to connect those portions of the parks.

That seems to be a lot of work and investment for little benefit. The train track would have to criss-cross the lagoons several times, it would interfere with the entrance and trails through Dinosaurs Alive, and I really don't see how there's room for a train station around Dragster.

And considering the Million Dollar Midway station is a short walk away, it seems unnecessary.

The rail road route is fine in its current configuration. A bypass path has been suggested near the Gemini rest rooms to Mean Streak, but that area could be suited for a building to house a dark ride . Then relocate planning and design to the main land on Rt. 6 next to the maintenance shop.

While they're at it, adding stroller storage on the train would be quite welcome.

I believe the last car has storage for strollers, wheelchairs, etc...

New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus

Just watched the video of Tony's requiem for Mean Streak. At the end he chanted "Futurus in Frontiertown Brightus Maxiumus Grandus"

A possible hint in there for the name of the new coaster?

Maybe? But at KI, I believe storage exists on every car, and it's pretty popular in my experience.

At KI the ride transports people from near the kid section to the water park. I would imagine they get more strollers riding than CP&LE.

Can you elaborate on how it is a "shadow of its glory days"? Over in the Cedar Point History forum, there is a thread on Boneville history. Videos on YouTube from the 70's and 80's show that things look very similar to what they do today. I know the "moonshiners" section was heavily updated in the past couple years, not to mention the addition of lots of colored lighting for night time train rides.

There's stroller storage on each car, although the stroller can't be in the seat with you. There's a section at the front and back of each car to place a stroller, but careful placement is necessary.

Not sure. But the phrase has been seen before, albeit in English. That "Frontiertown has a bright future" has been stated repeatedly cannot be accidental. The park plans most of its messaging too carefully for that.

I mean to be critical of Boneville. It is probably the best theming that CP has kept up with over the years. But there has been a reduction in the "rural" aspect of the ride, as more and more rides have crept into the scenes. over the years. It used to be the Mine Ride was the only ride that could be seen from the train ride. Now it is a almost a tour of the midway. Much like Western Cruise, once the secluded nature of the ride was gone, it was much after that the entire ride was gone....anyway that was what I meant - right or wrong.
