CoasterMania 2012

I was excited about CM and HWN being on different weekends this year. Then I went and bought tickets to a concert in Louisville the weekend before HWN, so I don't see myself going all the way back down there again the following weekend. :(

I contacted CP about the date change/move of CM from the 1st weekend in June (when it's been held in the past) to the middle of July.
Here is the response I received:
"In response to your question, CoasterMania will be held Friday, July 13th this summer. The move was made to accommodate the ACE Spring Conference that will be held at CP May 18-20. Full details about CoasterMania, including an event intinerary, will be posted at www.cedarpoint.com later this month.
Thanks again for your e-mail and we hope to see you at CoasterMania! this summer.

With the information given here, he's not doing a very good job at "pormoting" CM :)

He has A LOT to organize and promote......when time allows it so cut him some slack. :) Plus it's not as close to the event as it was around this time last year since it's now in July.

You miss-spelled promoting*. :) By the way, I hope for 2012 Coaster Mania, They put your name somewhere on the lanyards. I met a lot of new people in 2011 and had problems remembering everyone's name. I felt bad, but then again it does take me a few times to get a persons face and name down right away.

Unless they decide to preregister everyone (which I don't recall them doing before), I wouldn't count on it.

Well, from what I've heard, Cedar Point was waiting for ACE to release the Spring Con flyer before they released the CoasterMania flyer. The Spring Con flyer was posted yesterday. Maybe we'll see the CoasterMania flyer in the next week or so. There is also the possibility that they're waiting for the new website to be up and running first too. :)

You sign up when you get there. Correct? There is no way to sign up before you get to the park?

This looks like it should be a good event with behind the scenes tours of both Gemini and Dragster. And ERT on more coasters at one time than they've had in recent memory.

Why's it so... Creepy...

It doesn't say anything about a speech or presentation or anything... Does this mean they will not have one? Or is it just not on the itinerary

^^ It's due to the date being Friday the 13th. And ummm......there better be a presentation.......in particular the film festival or I will be VERY upset. >:-(

Was there normally a scheduled time for a presentation in the previous years?

When CoasterMania was a 2-day event, they would have drinks and appetizers in the Coral Courtyard around 6PM, followed by question and answer session inside with a guest speaker. Then a CoasterMania video contest was held for the top 3 entries.

Isn't this when there supposedly announcing our new coaster?

There's no real evidence that they will. It was just something Mr Kinzel said at last years coastermania that has people thinking.
