CoasterMania 2012

There is no they, it's just Jeff. He says time and time again not to wait too long to join as he only processes so much at a time. I am the Membership Director for the Great Ohio Coaster Club and can vouch for the fact that many people wait until the last minute. If you plan to join a club to go to CoasterMania, I would follow GoBuck89's advice and join sooner rather than later.

Yeah, I try to be more proactive printing and mailing membership cards around events, but I wouldn't wait. The USPS isn't the most isn't exactly the most consistently performing entity.

And besides, if you join the CoasterBuzz Club right now, you start to enjoy the site without ads immediately. If you plan to renew for events next year, it's a lot easier to have your renewal date in the off-season, when the only consequence of an expired membership is, "Oh look, I see the ads again," and not, "Oh crap! Coastermania is tomorrow!"

This will be my first year attending CoasterMania! About how many people attened for the ERT? I'm guessing the lines are very short. About how long are the wait times during the ERT?

The Coastermania crowds seemed lower the past few years when it was on the same weekend as Holiday World's event. Now that CM is in mid July, all bets are off when it comes to what the crowds will look like.

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

So I was just looking at the CoasterMania schedule and it says that the park closes to the public at 11:00pm. But on the CP calendar on the website, it is showing that the park closes at 10:00pm. Anyone know which one is correct?

I know I'm not following on with you guys, but I actually liked the idea of having the Two day coaster mania schedule. The way it was set-up last year was you had a few roller coasters on schedule one day and then the next day you had roller coasters in the morning schedule and then a couple more in the evening.

I enjoyed the two day events, but I don't mind seeing it go back to one day this year. Less money to spend on hotel rooms.

The Coastermania website is currently down (as of this message). They might be updating it now. I would guess that the CP calendar is correct.

By the way, if you intend to join CoasterBuzz Club for entry to Coastermania, please don't wait until the last minute. Remember, your membership card is in the hands of the US Postal Service. Order early, order often!

Thanks for the reminder. I need to renew.

It says registration begins at 6am. Should I try and get to the park earlier than that? Like around 5:30 am?

It probably won't be necessary to get there that early. The only reason might be if you're doing one of the early behind the scenes tours, and even then showing up around 6 would probably be fine.

Do we have any idea what tickets will cost this year for non-pass holders? If not, does anyone remember what they cost last year?

Sorry if this was already covered elsewhere, but if it was I could not find it. Can someone give a quick overview of Coaster Mania? I see the schedule on the CP website, but it doesn't give a ton of details.

Is it a normal operating day with ERT at the beginning and end or is it open only to pass holders? Are there speakers (I thought I read that B&M and Ron Toomer have been guests)?

Also, does anyone know what the crowds are like? I understand it changed dates this year, but Fridays are usually half way decent days to visit the park, but I have never been there on a Friday in the middle of the season. Is it possible to get a lot of rides in during ERT or is it insanely crowded with club members.

Lastly, is the behind the scenes tour of Dragster worth it?

Thanks!

Normal opperating day.

If there are speakers, they will be at lunch. Typically at lunch it has just been Bryan, and maybe a couple club presidents or regional reps.

Crouds will be completely different this year. The event is almost always on the first Friday in June. Now it's Friday July 13th. Fridays are slower than Saturdays. But, it's mid summer and kids are out of school.

Dragster tour is cool if you want to get pics you've never gotten before.
