CoasterMania 2012

I still think the "official" schedule needs some tweaking yet. Besides not having any presentation listed on the schedule, Friday night's ERT begins at 11:30 PM, even though according to C.P.'s official site, the park closes at 10 PM on Friday July13th.

11 p.m. – Park closes

o ERT on:

• Top Thrill Dragster

• Magnum

• Gemini

• Mean Streak (11:30-12:30)

• Wicked Twister (11:30-12:30)

• Disaster Transport (11:30-12:30)

Maybe the extra time is for a suprise to try and break the world's record for the largest game of twister.

I received confirmation that the film fest and Q&A are not part of the event due to time constraints.

Bummer, I had such a good idea too. :(

It just gives you another year to plan an even more spectacular video for next year (Assuming they revert back to the 2 day schedule).

I liked the original one day schedule. Two days is too much, even though you don't have to attend both days.

I'm going to be attending my first CoasterMania event this year. How are the lines, if any?

So then... Where does that "surprise" come in to play? Probably wont be one...

If the plan was to announce something at CoasterMania, that could still do that during lunch, right?

Maybe that's why there's extra time so they could announce it.

that could be true. I doubt they would put "SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT!" on the schedule.

Great, now 163 days of discussion about whether they will or wont announce the new ride for 2013. ;)

Dick didn't say John would have the surprise for us at CoasterMania. He said "this time next year" so if it was going to be announced at an event, ACE's Spring Conference will be closer to that date than CoasterMania. Or, perhaps it won't even be announced at an event. It could just be a press release like they normally do. Of course, this is all speculation about a vague statement made by our former CEO.

That is all very true, but I find it very interesting that right after Dick made that statement AT a roller coaster event. He also made that statement right after he was talking about all the great coasters that have been built at CP. I just find that all very coincidental.

Im not sure if I would like an announcement that early. It's fun playing the guessing game.

So it says you need to show your coaster club ID. What exactly is that? I plan on being a member to CoasterBuzz so how would I receive my ID, like through the mail? and how long does the membership last? Is it like an actual drovers license type ID or is it just like a piece of paper with some numbers on it.

You will get a membership card. Its about the same size as a seasons pass. It will have your screen and real names on it as well as an expiration date (membership is good for 12 months) and a membership number. There is no picture. Show the membership card at the desk at guest services and either your CP/CF pass or pay an entrance fee and you will get a lanyard that will get you on the ERT rides and a ticket for the lunch.

Membership cards take a couple weeks to process and get to you. I think they try to process them more quickly around the time of the various coaster events during the year. But I would try to get your application in 3 or 4 weeks in advance of the event. Why take a chance on not having your membership card on time?
