Committed Relationships?

Has anyone worked at CP while in a committed, long term relationship? I really want to work at CP this summer, but I am married, and could see how being apart for so long might be difficult. I am a college student from Michigan looking to save some $ for next fall. My husband is into music and will probably be traveling around alot this summer playing...

Is this whole idea just crazy?

Any thoughts?

No crazier than your husband running around the country in a band while in a committed relationship.

Just keep one thing in mind: There are 3,000 + mostly single people your age..a good half of them guys...working along side you.

Yea, but a good 60% of those guys are gay. Which makes it a lot easier! I Love you Nicky Poe! And Mark! you're both faaaaaaaabulous!

LOL so true about the 60% being gay. Just think of it this way Laura, if you guys can't stay together from being so far apart maybe it wasn't meant to be eh? Sorry if thats pessimistic but it's the truth. I wouldn't worry about it though, you shouldn't have any problems.

This is strictly a case by case basis as to if it will be ok or not.

Some can make it without thinking twice, others will end up destroying thier relationships within a matter of weeks.

P.S. The 60% is a little high.

It's all a matter of trust. How much do you trust him? How much does he trust you? If there is no trust, the relationship will not last.

If you can truly trust each other, there probably won't be much of a problem.

If you're college aged, I can only wonder what the hell you're doing in a committed, let alone, married, relationship in the first place.

I have heard of people who are married both living together and working at CP at the same time (yes, for those who don't know, married -- not "dating" -- housing is available), but have never heard of anyone coming to CP without their spouse, although I'm sure it's happened. As far as necessary qualities go, I agree about trust, but also wonder how you guys fare during long separations? Have you tested your relationship like this before, but for a shorter time? Putting a three- (or longer) month strain like this on a relationship is a huge test, even if you're just steadily dating; hopefully you're well up to the challenge. Do you also realize that if he is a non-employee, he can't just drop by your room in CP housing and spend the night or weekend? Overnight visits by non-employees aren't allowed; you would have to get a hotel room in town. Make sure to analyze this situation from all the angles, and make sure you are financially prepared to take it on, too.

Jeff, is there something wrong with being in a committed relationship and being college aged? Soon after college, many people get married and start families, is there really a correct age to be committed to someone?

My friend last year was married while her husband attended school back home in another state. She had a cool time and he did come visit every so often.

Just wondering if anyone ever got into a relationship while at Cedar Point?

Relationships are going to happen... you work with the same people for long hours under stress. You get to know people very well.. I met my current boyfriend at CP....we worked in the same department but different camps so that made it easier cause we were not around each other all the time... It was fun and interesting..i'm glad that i took a chance and dated a coworker

I am also in a relationship with someone I met at CP. We started dating in the off season, but Cedar Point brought us together none the less. We've known each other for over 3 years, have been together for over a year and plan on spending the rest of our lives together. So it can and does happen, you just have to work at it and realize that it won't work unless you give it time and patience

If you value your relationship enough, don't put it on the line. There'll be a whole ****load of stress put on your relationship and it's simply going to damage it unless you've got a really special case. But don't make any mistake, going to CP is going to put your relationship on the line.
Cedar Point brought me one of the most fulfilling and wonderful relationships I ever had. CP Princess, all i can say is wow. I guess you never really think of leaving with a permanent reminder of your "summer of love." Best of luck and love to you and your little girl...reminds me to cherish what Cedar Point gave me (ie. relationships, memories), cuz they are some of my fondest memories and always will be. (whoa on the mushy post. sorry. I just felt it)
